As the twelfth game in the Battlefield series, and a direct sequel to Battlefield 2 on the PC, Battlefield 3 is a military first-person shooter in which players take on various characters in several locations.
While investigating a hidden bunker in Iran, Staff Sergeant Henry "Black" Blackburn and his squad learn that a hostile militia - known as the PLR - have acquired two Russian nuclear devices, and plan to unleash them in New York and Paris. Blackburn must work against the clock, and the CIA, to stop the PLR from blowing up the cities.
The game features a co-op mode in addition to the standard single player campaign, as well as an online mode. Battlefield 3 was hailed by game critics, with an average score of 87% for its great graphics and fantastic multiplayer experience.
Like most first-person shooters, getting the platinum on Battlefield 3 will require some serious FPS skills and many hours of gameplay. You'll need to complete the campaign on its hardest difficulty, complete the co-op campaign on its hardest difficulty while grinding for XP, then put over fifty hours into online play.
Expect around 100 hours of gameplay for the Platinum, depending on your skills.
There's a number of chapter-related challenge trophies to acquire, so we recommend starting the game on Easy and going for those. Check out the Battlefield 3 trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details on those. Considering how many hours you'll need to put into the game later on, playing the campaign twice - once on Easy, once on Hard - will only save you from frustration. However, if you've got some serious FPS skills, then by all means play through on Hard the first time round.
Next, you can try to get the Co-op trophies out of the way. You'll need to find a partner who'll stay with you for all 6 missions, and help one another get the Co-op specific trophies. Again, like the campaign, you can first focus on those trophies by playing on Easy (takes only a couple hours) or just go straight to Hard if you don't mind frustration. After which, you'll need to grind for XP in order to unlock all the Co-op weapons for the Lock'n'Load trophy. We've posted a forum under our Links tab to look for a boosting partner.
Lastly, here comes the main course of this vast cuisine: the online play. This is where you'll be spending well over fifty hours boosting your XP till you reach Rank 45, as well as a number of other trophies along the way.
