Red Faction: Armageddon is a third-person shooter, and the fourth installment in the Red Faction series which began on the PlayStation 2 and PC. The game takes place on the ravaged surface of Mars as well as deep within its mines, where players must reclaim cultists fortifications as well as defend colonists from dangerous alien creatures. The game takes a more linear approach than the open-world of its predecessor, though still includes online multiplayer.

Set fifty years after the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla, the surface of the planet has become uninhabitable, forcing the Colonists to move into the underground network of mines. Darius Mason, grandson to the main characters of Guerrilla, inadvertently releases ancient, dormant creatures, forcing him to join forces with the Red Faction to save the people.

Red Faction: Armageddon received fairly positive reviews, with an average score of 73%, both praised and criticized by online magazines for reverting back from the open-world to the linear gameplay, though praised by most for its overall fun.

This is a high 2-star rating, simply due to the fact that there are two trophies which must be done online, one of which requires a total of four players, and there are very few people playing online. However, if you have three people to play with, the difficulty could be brought down to a low 2-star. At least one playthrough of the campaign is required, possibly more if any trophies are missed, and one of which must be on Insane mode, which isn't too difficult. Expect some necessary grinding afterwards.

Expect roughly 15-20 hours, depending on how many playthroughs you end up performing, plus your luck at finding online players.

The difficulty-related trophies are stackable, and Insane mode is available from the start. So if you wish to aim for the Platinum in as few playthroughs as possible, you can. Overall, Insane mode isn't too difficult, with only a few moments of frustration here and there. But if you want to first play it on Casual, you will be able to unlock cheats that will make your Insane run much easier. The choice is yours.

During your first playthrough, you'll want to focus on finding and listening to all 40 Audio Logs for the Chronicler trophy, find all 36 radio tags for the Lost Memories trophy, mine all the ore locations for the Working The Land trophy, and destroy all the propaganda for the Free Your Mind trophy, so feel free to follow one of the guides under our Links tab for this. Also, there are a number of combat and kill-related trophies to work on. It should be noted that progress you make in one playthrough will carry over to the next, so if you happen to find 39 Audio Logs in one playthrough, you'll just need to find that one missing log in your second. The same goes for all combat and kill-related trophies.

After that, you can head into online. There are technically 2 trophies which you can only earn online, which are Field Surgeon for performing revival 25 times, and the All For One, One For All trophy for completing a 4-player Infestation game beyond wave 9 without anyone bleeding out. There are four other trophies - Soldier, Commando, Honorary Mason, and Bug Hunt - which can technically be done offline, though are far easier if you have a good online team. With those out of the way, simply play another playthrough on Casual to mop-up any trophies you may still be missing.
