Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is a first-person shooter with RPG elements, set in an open world. The game is the third installment in the Borderlands series, taking place between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2. The game was first released on seventh-generation consoles in 2014, then ported onto the PS4 and Xbox One as part of The Handsome Collection one year later.
Handsome Jack is an employee at Hyperion Corporation. Following the siege of the company’s Helios space station by a military unit named the Last Legion, Jack decides to get a group of Vault Hunters together to take back the station, while also seeking out the hidden vault on Pandora’s moon.
Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel received positive reviews with an average score of 75%, praised for its interesting characters, humor, and gameplay mechanics, but criticized for its weak story and lacking much change from the previous installments.
If you’re already familiar with the Borderlands series, then you should be familiar with what is required for the Pre-Sequel Platinum. For those new to the series, the game is of average difficulty, but needs a lot of time. One full playthrough, plus a few partial playthroughs are required. On the PS4, all online trophies can be done locally if you have up to four controllers. The PS3 version will require at least one online player, provided you each have two controllers.
Expect anywhere between 50-70 hours for the Platinum, depending on how much co-op assistance you have. NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 have a separate list from those on the PS3.
Start by selecting whichever character you feel comfortable with, and play through the story from beginning to end. Work on completing all the side missions as well.
However, take note of two missable trophies. The Who You Gonna Call? trophy requires you to complete the Sub-Level 13 missions with three other player. This mission is in two parts, but it is the second part which must be completed with three other co-op partners. Also, the Guardian Guardian trophy requires you to save the Guardians from the Scav Poachers. After you complete the Guardian Hunter trophy and have the option to either kill or side with the Master Poacher. Make sure to “kill” him, in order to unlock the trophy.
Even if you’ve finished the story, continue to work on everything else that’s required in the free-roam phase. This includes any side-missions still missing, and discovering all locations for the Cosmic Completionist trophy. Be sure to check out the Borderlands The Pre-Sequel trophy guide links under our Links tab for more details.
After all that, you should have nearly all the trophies unlocked, with the exception of a few. Next, it’s time to start your True Vault Hunter mode playthrough. If you’ve already done everything else, then this should just be a speedrun through the story. True Vault Hunter mode can be challenging, so its recommended you find some co-op friends to help, to make things easier. Completing this will help you reach level 50, and thereby unlock the Space Lord trophy.
Finally, it’s time for some partial playthroughs in order to unlock the character-specific trophies. These involve using each the character’s Action Skill, which you’ll probably need to reach around level 25. After your first playthrough, you should already have one of these four trophies unlocked. So start a new playthrough with a different character and work on that particular trophy until its unlocked, then start another playthrough with another character. Rinse and repeat.
After your fourth partial playthrough with the last character, you should unlock your last trophy, along with the Platinum trophy.
