Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Wolfenstein The Old Blood is a first-person shooter and stand-alone title in the Wolfenstein series. The gameplay is similar to other titles in the series, where layers navigate through levels while taking down enemies using an assortment of weapons and melee attacks. Players can upgrade the protagonist through the use of perks, which allows for more health, armor, or ammunition.

Taking place before the events of Wolfenstein: The New Order, set in an alternate version of 1946, OSA agents William Blazkowicz and Richard Wesley must make their way into Castle Wolfenstein in order to collect a top secret folder from the Nazi archaeologist Helga Von Schabbs.

Wolfenstein The Old Blood received positive reviews with an average score of 76%, praised for its action and gameplay, stealth puzzles, and environments, though criticized by some for its shortness and lack in adding anything new to the series.

This game is fairly average in terms of difficulty, and not particularly time consuming. The campaign is quite short, and while there is a trophy for completing the game on its hardest difficulty setting, this can be cheated by completing only the final level on its hardest difficulty through the chapter select. There are several collectibles to find, though following a guide will make this easy, and the chapter select means nothing is missable. Achieving a gold rating on the challenges can be tough and frustrating at time, though with patience and practice, are certainly doable.

Expect roughly around 9-12 hours for the Platinum, depending on the time spent on challenges and how many playthroughs you decide to do.

The difficulty-related trophies stack, and UBER-difficulty (the hardest mode) is available from the start, so if you wish to complete the game in one playthrough, you can.

It should be noted that there is a simple cheat. You can instead play through the game on the easiest level. After your playthrough, reload the final Chapter 8 and select UBER mode, which will then unlock all the difficulty-related trophies. The choice is yours.

During your playthrough, you’ll want to unlock all the perks, where are done by performing certain actions throughout the game, complete each of the 9 Nightmare levels to unlock their respective trophy, as well as the Die Grosse Die trophy, complete the unlock requirements for the Challenges, and find all 74 collectibles in the form of 10 letters and 64 gold items.

Keep in mind that there is a chapter select available, so nothing is missable. If you happened to fail unlocking any of the Challenges, or missed a few collectibles, then use the chapter select to go back and get whatever you missed. Be sure to check out the Wolfenstein The Old Blood trophy guide links under our Links tab for more details.

If you completed this playthrough on UBER-difficulty, and used the chapter select to mop-up anything you missed, then you’re ready for the final step. If not, reload Chapter 8 and replay this on UBER-difficulty to unlock the difficulty-related trophies.

Finally, it is time to get a gold medal on all 10 challenges. This is arguably the most difficult step on your road to the platinum, as some of these challenges can be quite tough. However, they are all doable with enough patience and replay. If you’re having trouble with any of these, check out some of the videos under our Links tab.
