It’s that time of the year when some of us may still be in the holiday spirit and perhaps exchange a gift or two. Sony is certainly still in a festive mood, as they are giving away another set of freebies to PlayStation Plus members. Also, like last month, we’re getting another three freebies, two for the PS4 and one to celebrate the launch of the PS5, so looks like this will become a common trend with Sony. So without further ado, here are the PlayStation Plus Free Games December 2020, available for download on the first of December.

First, there’s Just Cause 4, the next title in the action adventure series by Avalanche Studios. A sequel to Just Cause 3, the game takes place in an open-world set in the fictional nation of Solis, where Rico Rodriguez is seeking to take down a private military known as The Black Hand.

Next, there’s Rocket Arena, a third-person online shooter from Final Strike Games. Players select from a range of colorful characters with unique abilities, and jump into an arena where they assist teammates while battling against the opponent.

Finally, there’s Worms Rumble, newly launched for the PS5 but also available for the PS4. Players take control of their worm in this 2.5D action game and battle other players, while customizing their worm through unlocked cosmetic items.

All three games have Platinum trophies to unlock.

Players familiar with the Just Cause series will know what to expect in unlocking all the trophies for Just Cause 4. The game is not particularly difficult for average gamers, there are no missable trophies, and will require around 40 hours of gameplay.

The Platinum for Rocket Arena has some straightforward trophies, though the difficulty in unlocking the Platinum entirely depends on your online shooting skills. Expect anywhere between 50-80 hours, depending on your skills and luck.

The same can be said for Worms Rumble, which also requires online skills and luck for the Platinum, and could take anywhere between 50-80 hours. [EDIT]: Players be warned that a few trophies on the PS5 version have reported to be buggy, and not unlocking.

Mad Max

Mad Max is an action-adventure set in an open-world, based on the Mad Max franchise. The player-character can engage in stealth or combat using a variety of weapons, as well as fight enemies in vehicular combat.While exploring landscapes and fulfilling missions, the player character and his vehicle can be upgraded.

In an apocalyptic world, Max journeys to the Plains of Silence, where he is attacked by the infamous War Boys and stripped of his belongings. He then sets on a quest to seek revenge on the raiders.

Mad Max received lukewarm reviews with an average score of 71%, praised for its engaging story, colorful characters, and remaining faithful to the spirit of the films, though criticized by some for its repetitive gameplay and technical bugs.

Mad Max was made available as a PlayStation Plus free game in April 2018.

With the exception of a few challenges, the Platinum for Mad Max is not particularly difficult, but very time consuming. In an open-world setting, you'll need to complete all the missions and sub-missions, perform challenges, take down camps, and find collectibles, all while upgrading Max's skills and his car. The good news is, there are no missable trophies. However, be prepared to put in a lot of grinding.

The trophy Up To The Task is technically labeled as an online trophy, only because two of the challenges require connection to the Avalanche Studios' server. A PlayStation Plus membership is not required, and the challenges themselves are treated as single-player.

Expect anywhere between 60-80 hours for the Platinum, depending on your skills.

For the most part, there are no missable trophies. So we recommend starting with going through and completing the main story. Along the way, you can work on doing some of the side missions and challenges. Also, spend only as much scrap as you have to during this stage, as you'll need to have a total of 10,000 scrap for the Scrap Collector trophy. Finally, some of the challengers can be quite difficult to accomplish later in the game, of which you'll need to complete the 144 non-repeating ones for the Up To The Task trophy. So we recommend checking the requirements for this trophy in the Mad Max trophy guide links under our Links page, to see which ones have special requirements that are easier to do when there are still a number of enemies around.

After you've completed the main story, you'll have unlocked all the Wasteland Missions. So, now it's time to finish those. Remember to keep saving that scrap if you haven't yet unlocked the Scrap Collector trophy. Also at this point, you should be able to finish any remaining challengers for the Up To The Task trophy.

If you've completed all the challengers, then it's safe to start reducing all the threats in each of the four territories for their respective trophies. With all the threats reduce, this will make it easier for the next step, which is completing all the scavenging locations.

All that should be left are the Death Runs, which are the races found throughout the open world. Complete those to unlock their respective trophies, and then finally mop-up anything you're still missing.

Just Cause 2

Just Cause 2 is a third-person, open-world action-adventure, and a sequel to Just Cause released in 2006 for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The story is set on the same fictional island of Panau in Southeast Asia as its prequel, though taking place on the opposite side. Rico Rodriguez returns as the game's protagonist.

Taking place four years after Just Cause, Agency operative Rico Rodriguez is dropped into Panau, a dystopian island controlled under the dictatorship of Pandak "Baby" Panay. Rico must eliminate Panay from power, as well as face his old mentor, Tom Sheldon, who may have gone rogue.

Just Cause 2 received positive reviews, with an average score of 85%, praised for its world design, gameplay mechanics, soundtrack, and for being an improvement over its prequel, yet criticized by some for its voice acting as well as simple story.

While not as time consuming as the GTA series, and no online trophies to worry about, there's still quite a bit of grinding and work required for this platinum. The game is not especially hard, and certainly Platinumable for the average gamer. But the 3-star rating is for the +60 hours you'll need to invest in this puppy.

There's also a trophy for completing the game on Hardcore difficulty, which is available at the start. If you decide to get your feet wet by playing on Normal first, then expect to add another 20-30 hours of gameplay.

The Legendary Agent trophy requires you to complete the game on Hardcore difficulty. This mode is available from the start, and compared to other games, is not especially more challenging. So if you wish to avoid adding another 20-30 hours of gameplay, we recommend selecting it.

Since this game is open-world, there are no missable trophies. Even after completing the story, you can enter Mercenary mode which allows you to move around the map and mop-up any trophies you've missed.

There are a fair number of kill-related trophies, which you'll want to aim for as you play through the missions to save time afterwards. Also, keep an eye out for yellow dots which indicate undiscovered locations, and blue dots for faction collectible items. Also, hijack any new vehicles you come across, as you'll need to collect 104 throughout the game. Again, these are things you can do afterwards, but will save some mopping-up time.

Just Cause 3 Trophy Guide

Just Cause 3 is a third-person action-adventure set in an open world. Players control the protagonist Rico Rodriguez, exploring the fictional island of Medici while fulfilling story-related missions and other challenges. A new wingsuit has been permanently equipped to the player-character, allowing for a quicker way to glide across the open-world.

Six years following the events of Just Cause 2, the mercenary Rico Rodriguez has returned to his homeland of the island Medici in the fictional Mediterranean republic, only to learn it has fallen under the control of a military dictator named General Sebastiano Di Ravello. Rico must fight with the underground resistance to overthrow the dictator and restore freedom to the land.

Just Cause 3 received mainly positive reviews with an average score of 77%, praised for its open world, environments, and destruction mechanics, though criticized for its narrative and glitches.

If you've played the earlier Just Cause game, than you should know what to expect in terms of difficulty and time. While this can be considered a high 2-star rating, mainly due to some of the more tricky challenges and amount of time involved, the majority of the trophies - and the game itself - is none too difficult for any average player. Also, where there are technically 3 online trophies, these simply require an online connection.

Expect roughly 50-60 hours of gameplay for the Platinum, depending on your skills.

There are no missable trophies, and for the most part no real roadmap necessary for the game. You can start by working on the story missions, though take a break at any time to unlock a few other trophies along the way.

There are 16 trophies related to completing all the story missions. Along the way, you can also liberate settlements which will not only earn you another 4 trophies, but unlock all the challenges and listed collectibles. After which, there are another 5 trophies related to completing all the challenges, as well as earning you the Gears which you can use to upgrade your weapons and abilities.

Finally, there are all the audio tapes, shrines, vintage parts, tombs, and vehicles to bring to Mario's Rebel Garages to find, for each of their respective trophies. Again, you can work on these as you play through, or save them till the end and do them all at once. Finding all the collectibles will unlock the No Stone Unturned trophy.
