LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is a third-person action platformer and part of of the LEGO game series, based on Batman and other characters from the DC Universe. Similar to the previous LEGO Batman titles, players can select from an assortment of characters, battle enemies, solve puzzles, and collect Lego studs which are used as a currency. Individual characters possess unique abilities, such as flying, speed, or shrinking and enlarging objects.

Brainiac is up to no good, and has set a course for Earth with a devious plot. Once Batman learns what he's up to, it's up to him and the rest of the Justice League to stop him before Brainiac is able to fit the Earth in his pocket.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham received generally positive reviews with an average score of 74%, praised for its variety of characters, challenges, musical score, and humor, though criticized by some for its repetitive gameplay and voice acting.

This is a low 2-star difficulty rating. While a few races can be a little tricky, both the game and Platinum is about as challenging as any other LEGO game in the series, as the action is easy and there are no missable trophies to worry about. The only other reason for the upgrade to 2-star is for the extra time required.

Expect roughly 30-35 hours of gameplay for the Platinum.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 have a separate list from those on the PS3.

If you've played other games in the LEGO series, then you should know the drill by now. Start by simply playing through the Story mode, which are made up of 15 levels, and the Bonus level. It's up to you if you want to start grabbing collectibles now, or simply enjoy the game and worry about them later. There are no missable trophies to worry about, as you'll be able to enter Free Play after completing the story.

Next, it's time to find all the Collectibles in Free Play mode. Before doing so, you'll need to at least have Atom for Level 3, Shazam for Level 5, and Poison Ivy for Level 8. You'll need to find all the Minikits, Red Bricks, Character Tokens, and Adam West in Perils. Be sure to check out the Collectible Guides under our Links tab for help with this.

Finally, it's time to mop-up any miscellaneous trophies you're still missing, such as destroying the hidden doughnut for the Doughnut Discoverer trophy, jumping on a bouncy object 50 tiimes for the Everyone Loves Bouncing trophy, or playing with two specific characters for their respective trophies. Check out the LEGO Batman 3 Beyond Gotham trophy guide links under our Links tab for details on what trophies you still need.

Injustice 2 Trophy Guide

Injustice 2 Trophy Guide. Difficulty: *** Ā A fighting game based on the characters from the DC Universe, and a sequel to the 2013 Injustice: Gods Among Us. While the majority of the trophies are easy, a few are either challenging or require a lot of grinding.

Injustice 2

Injustice 2 is a fighting game, and a sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us released initially in 2013 on seventh generation consoles. The core gameplay is similar to its predecessor, including one-on-one combat with characters from the DC Universe, environment interaction, stage transitions, and character traits which provide temporary abilities according to the character's playstyle. Injustice 2 also adds a loot-dropping system with costume pieces and equipment.

Four years following the events of Injustice: Gods Among Us, Batman is attempting to restore society after the fall of Superman's regime. Meanwhile, the supervillain group The Society, as well as the forces of Brainiac, results in Batman freeing the imprisoned Superman to battle these new threats.

Injustice 2 received positive reviews with an average score of 90%, praised for its story, visuals, game mechanics, and overall presentation, though criticized for its introduction of micro transactions.

The Platinum for Injustice 2 is more time-consuming than difficult. Grinding for XP will take quite a while, and the Cat Fight trophy is requires luck and a lot of farming. There are also several online trophies which, if done legitimately, will require some good skills - particularly winning 10 ranked matches for the Winning Is Fun trophy.

Overall, expect roughly 100 hours of gameplay, depending on your skills, whether or not you boost the online trophies, and luck.

NOTE: Having a second controller will make a number of the trophies easier to obtain.

Injustice 2 doesn't require much of a roadmap, as there are a number of paths you can take on your way to the Platinum. However, if you're in the need of some direction, we recommend starting with the Story Mode. Here, you can set the difficulty to Very Easy and play through the 12 Chapters with will earn you the Half Way There, Who's Next?, and I'll Do It Again trophies.

Next, you can knock out a huge chunk of the trophies by playing in Versus Matches. At least 38 of the trophies can be unlocked, as you select different heroes and battle against particular rivals. If you have a second controller, this step will be even easier than playing against the AI. Be sure to check out the Injustice 2 trophy guide links under our Links tab to see which trophies have what requirements.

Then, there are six trophies related to the Battle Simulator, where in single player you'll fight against five random opponents with all possible characters.

At any point you feel ready, you can head into Online and start fighting against human opponents. Depending on your skills, the toughest trophy here will probably be the Winning Is Fun trophy for winning 10 ranked matches. However, since you'll need to play 200 online matches for the A Real Contender trophy, you should eventually get your 10 wins. Also, the Don't Stop Me Now trophy for winning 50 player matches can be boosted. Check out the boosting forums under our Links tab.

Finally, it's time to mop-up anything you're still missing. This may including grinding for the 50 pieces of Epic Gear for the Hipster trophy, reaching the max level with all characters for the Master Of All Trades trophy, and defeating Cheetah with Catwoman using the Cat Call as the final hit, for the Cat Fight trophy. For this last one, you'll need the Cat Call special ability which you'll find in a Mother Box, and requires a lot of farming and luck to acquire.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Trophy Guide

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Trophy Guide. Difficulty: n/o Ā A cross-over fighting game featuring characters from the Mortal Kombat game series and DC Comics. Since the servers were closed in July 2014, the online trophies – and therefore, the Platinum – are now Not Obtainable.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe is a crossover fighting game between characters from the Mortal Kombat game series, and the DC Comics fictional universe. The Story Mode consists of two different perspectives, between the Mortal Kombat and DC Universe, divided into a series of chapters. Battles include a Falling Kombat mini-game in which players fight in the air while tumbling towards lower levels, a Klose Kombat where the camera switches to a close-up shot of the characters, and a Test Your Might mini-game when smashing opponents through walls. The game features both local and online matches, to which the online servers were closed in July 2014. The game includes a total of 22 playable characters, 11 from each of the two franchises.

As Raiden repels an invasion by Shao Kahn, Superman is simultaneously fighting against Darkseid's Apokoliptian invasion. The two events cause a merging of the two villains into the creation of Dark Kahn, who manages to merge the Mortal Kombat and DC Universe worlds. Unless the heroes from each world can stop this merging, both worlds will be destroyed.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe received mostly positive reviews with an average score of 77%, praised mainly for its overall fun and execution, though criticized by some for the lack of gore often familiar with the Mortal Kombat series, and the newly added modes of Klose Kombat and Falling Kombat for slowing down the gameplay.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was released in November 2008, and includes 3 online trophies. Unfortunately, after the closure of online provider GameSpy following the Ziff Davis acquisition of IGN Entertainment, the online servers to the game were closed on July 16, 2014. As a result, the 3 online trophies cannot be unlocked. Therefore, the Platinum for this game has become Not Obtainable.

Following the closure of GameSpy after the Ziff Davis acquisition of IGN Entertainment, the online servers to Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe were closed on July 16, 2014. As a result, the three online trophies - Less Talk More Fight, Humiliation, and Relentless, cannot be unlocked. Therefore, the platinum for this game is Not Obtainable. However, there are still 39 offline trophies that can be earned, so if you're still interested, then read on.

You can begin by playing the Story Mode. You'll need to complete it twice, once through the Mortal Kombat path for the Worlds Remade trophy, and again on the DC Universe path to unlock the Universe Reborn trophy. In the process, you will also obtain The Ultimate Evil for completing both paths, as well as naturally unlock The Pugilist and Free Falling trophies. If things get tough, you can adjust to an easier mode.

Next, you'll need to play Arcade mode with all 22 characters, performing each of their Fatalities for Heroic Brutalities along the way in order to unlock The Finisher trophy. You'll also need to play a round on Very Hard without continuing for the Arcade Master trophy.

Once that's done, you can start working on the trophies related to the combo challenges, as well as the Super moves and Promoves. There is a trophy for each character, as well as the gold Supreme Champion trophy for completing all the Kombo challenges, and the gold Super Moves Master trophy for performing all the Super moves and Promoves, for a grand total of 24 trophies to unlock. Check out the trophy guides in our Links page for further details, and videos to see how they are performed.

Finally, mop-up any last remaining offline trophies you may still need.

Unfortunately, with the online servers shutdown, this is as far as we can go.

DC Universe Online Review

6.5 / 10 Banzai!s

The Game:

If you visitĀ psnprofiles.com, you can type in yourĀ PSNĀ name and it will give you a rundown on your current trophy status – including your top-ten rarest trophies. The other day, I checked it out for fun, and discovered that my most rarest trophy at only 0.98%, was the platinum forĀ DC Universe Online. Why? Read on, to find out.

Welcome to the DC Universe, filled with all those comic book characters like Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Green Lantern, and everyone else you’ll never see in a Marvel or Archie comic.Ā DC Universe OnlineĀ is the first MMOARPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Action Role Playing Game) to land on theĀ PlayStation 3, developed byĀ SOE‘s Austin Studios and published by bothĀ Sony Computer EntertainmentĀ andĀ WB Games. There was a lot of hype before going online in 2011, was handled by comic book writer and artist Jim Lee, allowed players to create their own characters with unique costumes and super-powers, and had two large world – Gotham City and Metropolis – to roam around in. It came with a $14.99 monthly subscription on top of the price of the game itself, and an awesome 13GB to download onto your hard drive.

The result?

No one was playing it.

You could fly from one end of Metropolis to the other (which took nearly 5 minutes in real time) and come across maybe 6 or 7 players. The Justice League Watchtower looked as though someone had pulled the fire alarm and everyone rushed out the emergency exit. And if you wanted to play a co-operative team mission (which takes you to another world) you needed to wait at least an hour until 3 other players signed on to fill the required minimum number of people.

So, seven months after its release,Ā SOEĀ decided to merge all the servers. Now you could find other players, and the world seemed a lot less void. But consider this: these are ALL the people playing the game – and that’s pretty sad. So, a month later they started releasing free DLC. Finally, two months after that,Ā DC Universe OnlineĀ became “free to play.” This means you can go onto theĀ PSN Store, download the game for free, and play it for free – with a few restrictions on the number of characters you can have and level-caps.

When a company starts giving their previously expensive game away for free, that’s usually a sign that it’s not doing so well.

What I Liked:

I have to admit, the general concept of the idea was pretty cool. There’s a lot of MMORPGs out there, such asĀ World of Warcraft,Ā Guild Wars, andĀ Final Fantasy XIV, to name a few. But many of these exist in the fantasy genre, andĀ DC Universe OnlineĀ is the first to inhabit superheroes, where each player could be unique not only by the look of their individual costumes, but their powers and abilities as well.

DC Universe Online ReviewThe game itself comes with its own story, and while I’ve always been more of a Marvel guy, the plot fits well in the comic book genre. In the future, Lex Luthor witnesses the end of the Earth when an alien named Brainiac easily takes over now that all the superheroes and villains are dead after a massive battle. Lex Luthor travels back to the present time, warns the Justice League of the impending doom, and sends “Exobytes” to lucky individuals of the world which grants them superpowers. The story is straight out of a comic book, and fits the MMO world well.

And all your favorite DC characters are there, from the popular like Superman, Batman, and Joker, to the not so popular like Booster Gold and Giganta. Some will contact you with missions, others will come to your aid, and some you’ll even do battle with. One thing the game does well, is completely immerse you in the DC Universe. You feel like you’re part of a team – either through the famous NPC characters, or other online buddies.

What I Didn’t Like:

As I mentioned earlier, the general concept of the idea was great. Unfortunately, the follow through just wasn’t there.

Let’s start with the most basic thing – your character. DLC aside, powers are limited to 6 types, with trees which naturally grow as you gain experience points. So, you’re either the guy who wields guns, or shoots fire, or picks things up and throws them with your mind, etc. Considering this ins’t a simple offline game, but a vast MMORPG in which it’s about the players spending vast amounts of time going through the continuously updated missions, you would think there’d be a bit more variety in options – maybe mixing and matching – the powers to choose from. Instead, it all just comes down to six basic archetypes.

Also, the limitations of your costume was disappointing. Like LEGO pieces, there’s a set number of boots, pants, shirts, helmets, and a few possible insignias to place on the chest, and a selection of 3 areas in which you can change the colors. Eventually, if you play the game long enough, you start to recognize all the different LEGO pieces which went into every player’s character design. Compare this toĀ Rock Band, where not only is there a thousand different outfits to choose from – all of which can have their color changed – plus the millions of tattoo images which you can place anywhere on your character’s body.

The graphics aren’t bad, but nothing to get excited over. The cities – Gotham and Metropolis – both look like a series of blocks and shapes, with a few signs and the odd car driving by. Compare this to Grand Theft Auto IV, where no two blocks look the same, from the shop signs to the crowds to the different car models. Lots of detail, well rendered, and much more pleasing to the eye.

DC Universe Online ReviewAnd speaking of locations, both the Justice League Watchtower and the Secret Society of Super Villains headquarters are way too big! You warp from Gotham up to the Watchtower, then have to run/fly for several minutes to find a character to talk to or buy a weapon – and half the time, you get lost on the way. Perhaps they thought this would be DC Universe’s version ofĀ Home, where players can meet each other and chat, form a group, etc. But no one visits the headquarters unless they have to – it’s just a vast empty space with a few NPCs, even after they merged the servers.

Overall:

The concept behindĀ DC Universe OnlineĀ was great, but it turned out to be a very ho-hum button masher with not much variety in your character design. Great voice acting (most with the original actors from the cartoon series) and the heroes and villains look great, but with a bland setting and missions which either involve defeating a set number of enemies, finding collectibles, or reaching points in the city and holding the circle button.

Not a bad game if you’re in the mood to mash the square button and run around without requiring much thinking or strategy, but it gets boring quite quickly. And going through the game six times for the platinum, is a feat only for gaming nerds like me.

Perhaps that’s why my rarest trophy is the platinum forĀ DC Universe Online.
