Friday the 13th: The Game

Friday the 13th: The Game is a third-person online survival horror based on the film franchise of the same name. With up to eight players in either public or private matches, one player is randomly selected to play as the hockeymask-wearing killer Jason Voorhees, who must locate the other counselor-players and kill them before time runs out. Counselors must stay alive by completing objectives, using weapons and traps to stun Jason, or avoid him altogether.

The game takes place in a semi-open world, with five different primary maps each based on sets from the films. The game also includes six different playable versions of Jason across different movie eras, as well as 10 counselors inspired by characters from the films.

Friday the 13th: The Game received lukewarm reviews with an average score of 62%, praised for its overall experience and fun, though criticized for lacking in content and technical and server issues.

With the exception of a few tricky trophies, the Platinum overall is not too difficulty - but extremely time consuming. You'll need to play a minimum of 2000 matches, half has a counselor and half as Jason, as well as kill a total of 1313 counselors, and perform every type of kill. While it is possible to boost in private matches, the trickier trophies - such as killing all counselors in one game - will require an 8-person boosting match. A boosting party of 4, however, can still unlock several trophies to speed up the process.

If boosting everything, it's possible to get the Platinum in about 150 hours. Legitimately, expect anywhere around 300 hours or more.

The game doesn't require much of a roadmap, only a vast amount of time.

Your ultimate goal is to play 1000 multiplayer matches as a counselor for the Head Counselor trophy, and 1000 multiplayer matches as Jason for The Final Chapter trophy. You'll also want to get 1313 counselor kills for the Gotta Kill Em All trophy, and get every type of kill at least once for the A Ph.D. In Murder trophy.

As you work towards those trophies, you'll want to work on unlocking the other miscellaneous trophies as well. Many of them can also be rather time consuming, so we recommend focusing on just a few, unlock them, then focus on another group. Be sure to check out the Friday the 13th The Game trophy guide links under our Links tab to get familiar with what you need to do.

It should also be noted that while the game keeps a record of your kills, achievements, etc., it's been reported by many players that these statistics are not always accurate. If you'd like to know how far you are in your kill count, or completing other challenges, you may wish to record these yourself.

If you plan on boosting any of the trophies, there are two trophies which require a boosting party of eight. These are the No Happy Endings, and One For Good Measure trophies. All other trophies can be boosted with a party of only four, or some with even just two. If you're looking for a boosting partner, be sure to check out the boosting forums under our Links tab.

Happy hunting!

PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2018

It’s the month of Jack-o-lanterns, candy, and scary flicks, and Sony is celebrating upcoming Halloween with at least one horror title in their line-up of PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2018 which are available for download on Tuesday, October 2.

On the PlayStation 4, there’s Friday the 13th: The Game, the online survival horror which pits the hockey-mask wearing Jason Voorhees against Camp Crystal Lake counselors. And Laser League, a brand-new multiplayer by Roll7, the developers behind OlliOlli and Not A Hero, in a team-based futuristic sports game.

And for the PlayStation 3, there’s Master Reboot, a sci-fi horror puzzler that takes place in the Soul Cloud, where immortality is possible and memories are stored for enjoyment. And The Bridge, a puzzle game where players navigate around obstacles by manipulating gravity. The Bridge is also a cross-plat on the PS4 and PS Vita.

And on the PlayStation Vita, there’s Rocketbirds 2: Evolution, a sequel to the 2011 platforming adventure where the superchicken secret agent must use all weapons, gadgets and disguises at his disposal to do away with evil penguins. And 2064: Read Only Memories, a cyberpunk point-and-click adventure set during Christmas in New-San Francisco in which a sapient machine requests the help of a journalist to rescue a kidnapped creator. Both Rocketbirds 2: Evolution and 2064: Read Only Memories are cross-plat with the PS4.

Among the PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2018 line-up, Friday the 13th: The Game, Laser League, Master Reboot, Rocketbirds 2: Evolution, and 2064: Read Only Memories all have Platinum trophies to unlock. Of these, Master Reboot and 2064: Read Only Memories are the easiest with a guide, each requiring only 5 and 15 hours of gameplay respectively. Also, unlocking 100% of the trophies on The Bridge is easy to do with a guide, and only needing about 7-8 hours.

For those who haven’t yet downloaded the free PlayStation VR game Here They Lie, keep in mind that it will remain available for free until October 2. Meanwhile, the party game Knowledge is Power will continue to remain as a free download until November 6.

Friday the 13th Developer Banning Players

Developer IIIFonic and Publisher Gun Media recently stated they will be permanently banning players who violate a set list of rules on the online multiplayer for their latest title, Friday the 13th: The Game. The list includes a range of offenses from exploits and hacks to verbal abuse:

1. Deliberate Third-Party Hacking Software – Anyone caught with automation/speed/wall hacking and other third party macro systems to give them an edge in-game will result in a ban.

2. Threats of Violence/Rape/Sexual Assault – Those using Voice Chat to threaten and harass other users with threats of sexual violence, rape and domestic violence to a degree unsuitable for social standards will result in a ban.

3. Racism/Discrmination – Those caught being racest or discriminatory to others will result in a ban.

4. Deliberately Helping Jason – This one is tricker; we will ban the Jason player and those helping Jason for deliberately ‘helping’ Jason win a match through killing other teammates or working to farm XP.

5. Deliberate Abuse of Exploits – Exploit usage that results in the deliberate griefing of others to gain an advantage and overall reduce enjoyment for other players will result in a ban.

5. Deliberate Abuse of Exploits – Exploit usage that results in the deliberate griefing of others to gain an advantage and overall reduce enjoyment for other players will result in a ban.

6. Do Not Pretend to ben an Employee of Gun Media or IIIFonic – Anyone utilizing surnames that attempt to act as a member of our team or speaks in-game as an employee of our team will result in a ban.

IIIFonic has stated that these rules are set for the multiplayer game only, and not private. Also, while swearing is not considered to be an offence, harassing other online players is. According to their Twitter post, IIIFonic stated that around 300 accounts have so far been banned.

“To put things into perspective,” IIIFonic posted on Reddit. “We’ve had around 1,200 reports since this post went live. Of them, 7 total bans have been placed on racism/helping Jason. The rest are overwhelmingly due to glitch abuse.”

Friday the 13th: The Game is a survival horror released worldwide on May 26, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, as well as the Xbox One and PC. The game holds a total of 51 Trophies, which includes 42 bronze, 6 silver, 2 gold, and the Platinum, with several of these Trophies being online-related.
