Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 is a J-RPG, and a sequel to the 2010 Hyperdimension Neptunia, with both returning and new characters, and new worlds to explore. Rather than the console wars, the game focuses on the handheld console wars.

Taking place in an alternate universe from the prequel, the Arfoire Syndicate of International Crime force has risen after the death of Arfoire. The CPUs attempt to stop the ASIC's growth in power, but are captured. It's up to Nepgear, Neptune's younger sister, to search out the mascots of the lands and free the world of Gamindustri from ASIC's tyranny.

Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 received mixed reviews, both in Japan and abroad, with an average score of 72%, praised for its originality and overall fun for J-RPG enthusiasts, but criticized for its battle system and repetition.

Despite having an equal 2-star difficulty rating as its prequel, mk2 is easier and far less time consuming than the first game in the series. While two playthroughs are required, the game is much shorter than the prequel.

Expect between 22-35 hours of gameplay for the Platinum, depending on your experience with the Hyperdimension Neptunia series and whether or not you make some clever save points.

As we mentioned earlier, this game will require two playthroughs. The reason for this, is because a secret boss only appears during a New Game+, which you're required to defeat for the Delphinus Wrecked trophy.

During your first playthrough, you'll be unlocking the vast number of story-related trophies. Along the way, you'll want to do the Chirper events to raise the Lily Rank of each character, as these will carry over into your New Game+. Also, there are a few missable trophies which you might want to keep an eye on during your first playthrough. That way, if you do miss anything, you will still have a second chance in your second. Check out the Hyperdimension Neptunia mk2 trophy guide links under our Links tab.

Once you finish your first playthrough, save your game, and select Continue in order to start New Game+. There are trophies associated with different endings, so make sure to create an extra save in Chapter 6, so you can continuously revert back to it to unlock each ending. Otherwise, just focus on defeating Delphinus for the Delphinus Wrecked trophy, and leveling up your characters to 99 for the Freshly Grinded Girls trophy.

Hyperdimension Neptunia

Hyperdimension Neptunia, known in Japan as Choujigen Geemu Nepuchuun, is a J-RPG and a spoof of the console wars between the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii. The game inspired an animation and manga series, and a remake on the PlayStation Vita.

Gameplay includes 3D-style dungeon exploration, a Game Disk System which allows characters to perform special actions through combos during combat, and on-screen text reading similar to a visual novel.

The game takes place in the world of Gamindustri, a pun on "game industry," which is divided into four distinct areas: Lastation, Lowee, Leanbox, and Planeptune. The player-character is Neptune, one of four goddesses who, after being defeated in the Console Wars, has lost consciousness and awakens with amnesia. Finding the world suddenly infested with monsters, she sets out to fight them and piece together her missing memories while travelling to each of the four regions.

Hyperdimension Neptunia became a cult classic in Japan, and received high praise in both Japan and Europe, with an average score of 78% for its originality and overall fun. North American magazines, however, gave negative reviews with an average score of 43%, criticizing most aspects from its music and presentation to its mediocreness.

Like most RPGs, this game isn't particularly difficult, only time consuming. It's very possible to obtain the platinum in one playthrough, so long as you follow one of the guides in our Links page and are careful. Otherwise, a second playthrough in New Game+ will be required to collect those missable trophies.

Overall, depending on whether or not you need a second playthrough, the Platinum can be earned in 60-90 hours.

The missable trophy in this game is Histoire Enthusiast, which requires you to obtain all content, such as 100% event completion and defeating every type of monster. It should also be noted that the Japanese version required the DLC for the dungeon completion, but not in the NIS America version. The missable trophy has a lot of factors which can result in a second playthrough. If you wish to avoid this, keep the following in mind:

Do not let Neptune die. If this happens, the shares of the lands decrease, which can result in closing certain events.

Do not recruit the goddesses, as this will affect who the final boss will be. Instead, after defeating the final boss, you can return and re-challenge the boss through the World Menu, this time with the three goddesses.

Complete every event and defeat every monster.

Otherwise, the majority of the trophies are story-based which you'll earn automatically. A few miscellaneous ones should also be checked out during your playthrough, such as Speedy Hunter which requires an S-rank in all the side dungeons.
