DOOM (2016)

DOOM is a first-person shooter and the fourth title in the main series, and a reboot of the Doom franchise which began on the PC in 1993. Players battle demonic enemies using a variety of weapons, as well as collect health and armor from fallen enemies. The game includes online multiplayer, as well as a Level Creation tool.

After an attempt to draw energy from Hell in order to solve the Earth’s energy crisis, a research facility on Mars has become overrun with demons. An unnamed space marine must fight back the demonic forces and save the research facility.

DOOM received positive reviews with an average score of 86%, praised for its visuals, fast-paced gameplay, and soundtrack, though criticized by some for its online multiplayer.

For average gamers, this is a low 2-star difficulty. The majority of the game can be played on its easiest mode, with only one mission to be completed on Ultra-Nightmare. There are no missable trophies to worry about. The three online trophies can be unlocked fairly quickly and without the need for boosting.

Expect around 18-20 hours for the Platinum, depending on skills.

If you wish to make things easier, feel free to select the easiest difficulty mode to begin your playthrough. While there are no missable trophies, nearly all the campaign-related ones can be unlocked in one playthrough.

There are a number of collectibles to find, such as Data Logs for the Historian trophy, all the weapon mods for the Hot Swapper trophy, and a number of others. If you wish to get all of these during your first playthrough, check out the collectible locations guides under our Links tab.

Also, there are a few kill-related trophies, and some miscellaneous trophies as well. Again, if you wish to knock all these out on your first playthrough, check out the Doom trophy guide links under our Links tab for more details.

Once that first playthrough is done, use this opportunity to mop-up any missing trophies. Again, check out the Doom trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you still need and their requirements.

Next, it’s time to start a new game on Ultra-Nightmare mode. Luckily, you only need to complete the first mission in order to unlock A Toe Into Madness trophy. Also, there is a glitch which allows you to skip a large portion of the mission. For more details, check out the video under our Links tab.

With all that done, it’s time to head into the online multiplayer. Here, you will need to reach Level 5 in order to get the Combat Tested Doomguy Approved trophy, and win a multiplayer match for the IPSXETIP.EXE trophy. These shouldn’t be too difficult if you’re playing Team Deathmatch.

Lastly, you’ll need to complete the SnapMap basic and advanced tutorials for the Entryway trophy, create and publish your own SnapMap for the Shareware trophy, and play five published SnapMaps for the No Rest For The Living.

If you’ve been following this guide, then you should get the Platinum trophy after playing your fifth published SnapMap.

Rage

Rage is a first-person shooter set in a post-apocalyptic open world, similar to the Borderlands series, with racing gameplay similar to Burnout. The game includes a 2-player co-op split screen, as well as online multiplayer.

The player-character is an Ark Survivor, who was sheltered during an asteroid collision with Earth which destroyed civilization. After awakening and finding the world in a wasteland, he is attacked by bandits, but saved by a wasteland settler who explains that a rising government is searching for the Ark Survivors for unknown purposes.

Rage received positive reviews, with an average score of 81%, praised for its graphics, gun-play action, and overall fun, though criticized by some for its weak story.

This game requires both some skill and quite a bit of time. The Obsessive Compulsive trophy requires completing 100% in the campaign, and this will require some planning due to some collectibles being missable. At least one playthrough on Nightmare difficulty is required. However, the most skill-dependent aspect is completing the mini-games, which can be quite tricky. There are also 2 online trophies, though these don't require much time to unlock.

Overall, a doable Platinum which requires at least 30 hours of playing, depending on how many playthroughs you do.

There are two ways you can go about this. Either do everything you can on Nightmare difficulty, or simply run through Nightmare and mop-up on Easy. The first option is certainly less time consuming, and Nightmare difficulty isn't terribly hard compared to some other games. But doing two playthroughs will allow you to simply focus on completing the game on Nightmare, then worry about all the collectibles and missables on Easy mode, while now being familiar with the game and points of no return. It's time versus ease, so the choice is yours.

Either way, during one of your playthroughs, you will need to find all the collectibles in the game. Some areas will lock-up after leaving, which means if you haven't found all the collectibles by then, you're out of luck. So make sure to follow one of the collectible guides under our Links tab during this playthrough. These areas include Dead City, the Authority Prison, the Well, and Outrigger Settlement. Make sure you find everything you need in these four locations before leaving.

The point of no return is the assault on the Authority Bridge. After that, some side-missions, such as races, are no longer available, which will lock you out of the Obsessive Compulsive trophy. You'll know you're ready when you have 126/130 completed, as there is a card, two jumps, and the mission itself to bring your total to 130.

Once that's all finished, you can head into multiplayer and nab the two online trophies, Fresh Meat and MVP, which requires you to both complete and come in first place in a public Road RAGE match. As long as your skills are up to the challenge, winning the match shouldn't take you too long.

Last are the four co-op related trophies. These you can either do online, or invite a friend to your home, hand him or her a controller, and do them in split-screen.
