Sleeping Dogs

Sleeping Dogs is a third-person action adventure, set in an open world. The game was first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012, then ported onto the PS4 and Xbox One with improved audio-visual quality and gameplay in 2014 as the Definitive Edition. Players navigate through the open world to take on missions, as well as side missions and other activities such as street races or fights in martial arts clubs. Experience points are earned, which can be used to upgarde the player-character's skills, as well as unlock cosmetic items such as new vehicles or outfits.

Wei Shen is a former San Francisco police officer, now working for the Hong Kong Police Force. His task is to go undercover to infiltrate the Sun On Yee Triad organization.

Sleeping Dogs received positive reviews with an average score of 79%, praised for its combat system, open-world environment, AI system, voice acting, and engaging characters, though criticized by some for its linear missions and repetitiveness.

The Platinum for Sleeping Dogs is not particularly difficult, only requires a little time. The game is open world, which features a free roam even when the main story is complete, and so nothing is missable. There are plenty of collectibles to find, but the game graciously keeps track of everything you've found and marks them on the map. In the end, the Platinum needs only a little time and a little effort.

Expect roughly 25-30 hours for the Platinum.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS3 have a separate list from those on the PS4 Definitive Edition.

It should first be noted that while the DLC trophies are separate from the Platinum on the PS3 version, they are bundled together on the PS4's Defenitive Edition, and so will need to be unlocked for the Platinum. Start by simply playing through the game, completing the 30 story missions and other various activities which will pop-up on your map. You'll also want to grab any collectibles you find along the way in the form of Health Shrines, Security Cameras, and Lockboxes. The game keeps track of all collectibles found and will be marked on your map.

Also, during your playthrough, you'll want to try to get as much Triad and Cop XP as possible, just to make things easier later on when working towards the Ultimate Fighter and Super Cop trophies. This is done by using a variety of melee combat moves, getting headshots, disarms, and environmental kills. Also, certain clothing sets which you can unlock later in the game, will reward extra XP.

It should also be noted that once you reach Face Level 10, you'll unlock a perk which grants a 40% discount on all purchases, such as clothing and cars. So if you wish to avoid any grinding for money later on, it's a good idea to save as much as you can and wait until until you've unlocked that perk.

Once that's done, it's time to mop-up the random miscellaneous things. This includes finding all the collectibles, performing any remaining favors, jobs, and dug busts, as well as coming in first in all races. There are a few other various trophies you can unlock at this stage as well, such as killing someone with a first for the A Slap In The Face trophy, trying 10 different foods or drinks for the Foodie trophy, or cruise for 2 minutes over 60 km/h without damaging your care for the Safe Driver trophy. Check out the Sleeping Dogs trophy guide links under our Links tab to see which miscellaneous trophies you need and their requirements.

Also, if you're playing the Definitive Edition on the PS4, then this would be the time to complete all the DLC missions, which will be marked in orange on your map. For the Definitive Edition, these are required for the Platinum.

Next, it's time to work towards getting 100% game completion for the Chief Inspector trophy, as well as finish purchasing all vehicles for the Auto Enthusiast trophy, and all clothing for the Fashion Victim trophy. Again, the PS4 Definitive Edition includes the bundled DLC clothing and vehicles, which will need to be purchased for the Platinum.

By this point, if you don't have enough XP to reach Level 10 for both the Triad and Cop upgrades, then now is the time to replay story missions and do some grinding. Again, remember that certain clothing outfits will earn extra XP depending on the mission.
