BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger is a 2D fighting game with anime-style graphics, first released in the arcades, then ported onto the PlayStation 3 and other home consoles a year later. Taking place in the future, people have been divided between those who can wield magic and those who can't. After a civil war among these two groups, a rebel named Ragna the Bloodedge destroyed a number of branches of Liberty - the governing force who rules with their magic. As a result, a hansom bounty has been placed on Ragna's head. Hency, we've got characters fighting him for the bounty, as well as each other to stop the competition.

The console version generally received positive views, with an average score of 83%, praised for its depth of gameplay, interesting plot, and great online feature. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was nominated at the 2009 Spike TV Game Awards for fighting titles, though lost to StreetFighter IV.

Being a fighting game, this title's difficulty requires a fair amount of skill, as well as some of your time. The online trophies are not as difficult as those in the Streetfighter games, but you are required to get 3 ranked wins in a row. However, even without the online trophies, the offline will still give you a run for your money, especially if you're new to the whole fighting-game genre.

You may want to begin by heading into the Training to start practicing with a few of the characters, in order to get a feel for the game. There are several trophies you can earn during your training sessions as well, such as Devil's Advocate and Activate Termination Protocol. Check out the BlazBlue Calamity Trigger trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details.

Once you feel confident enough with your characters, you can head on into Story Mode. Set the game on Easy, and work through the 10 available character stories. This will unlock Nu and Hakumen's story, which you'll also need to complete. Next, you'll need to clear Arcade mode on Hell difficulty, and unlock everyone's Astral finish.

The last portion of the offline trophies will be clearing those on Score Attack, which is by far the most difficult part of the game. Here, you can use whichever character you're best with. Note: if you have a second controller, you can use it to press Start and save yourself if you're about to lose.

Last are the online trophies. The most difficult will probably be You Brute! which requires three consecutive wins in Ranked Matches. Other trophies are more time consuming, such as fighting 200 battles (win or lose) and ruler of Kagutsuchi in which you must play a match online at least once against every character (win or lose). These, of course, can be boosted. Check out the link to a boosting forum we've posted under the Links tab.
