PlayStation Plus Free Games February 2025

For many of us, February reminds us of Valentine’s Day, a time when we celebrate love and romance with chocolates and cookies. And to celebrate, Sony is releasing some free games which have nothing to do with this romantic celebration. But hey, free games are free games, right? And so, here is the PlayStation Plus free games February 2025 line-up, available for download on Tuesday, February 4.

First, for the PS5, there is Payday 3, the online first-person shooter developed by Starbreeze Studios, and the third installment in the Payday franchise. Taking place in New York City following the events of Payday 2, players work cooperatively in a team of four and choose from 16 different heists.

Next, for both the PS4 and PS5, there’s High on Life, the comical action-adventure shooter developed by Squanch Games and created by Justin Roiland from the Rick and Morty series. Play as a bounty hunter, and team up with your sister and an alien, to stop an Earth invasion by an alien cartel bent on turning the human race into drugs.

Finally, also for both the PS4 and PS5, there’s Pac-Man World: Re-Pac, a remake of the 1999 Pac-Man World released for the PlayStation One. In this 3D platformer, help Pac-Man navigate through six different worlds in order to rescue his family and friends, held captive by the ghosts.

All three games in the PlayStation Plus free games February 2025 line-up have platinum trophies to unlock.

Among these, High on Life has the quickest and easiest platinum. There are quite a few collectibles to find, and some missable trophies to worry about. However, if following a guide, the platinum can be obtained in roughly 8 hours.

The majority of the trophies on Pac-Man World: Re-Pac are quite easy. However, what stops some players from getting the platinum is the Retro Gamer trophy, which requires clearing round 9 of the original Pac-Man. This may be easy for some, and extremely challenging for others, depending on your Pac-Man skills.

Lastly, getting the platinum for Payday 3 is about average in terms of difficulty, however this will entirely depend on your co-op players. Having a good team of online friends will make all the difference, and can be quite challenging if playing with random people. With a good team, expect around 20-30 hours of gameplay for the platinum. Note that all the trophies for this game are online only.

Starbreeze To Focus On Multiplayer Games

Starbreeze Studios, the Swedish developer behind such titles as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and Payday, recently stated they will be focusing their efforts on co-op and multiplayer titles in the future, due to their longer monetizing lifespan than single-player games.

“You need to find the thing that makes it replayable,” stated Almir Listo, Global Brand Director at Starbreeze Studios speaking at the Reboot Develop conference. “One of the problems that Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons had for sure was that it’s not replayable. It’s a beautiful story, but it ends.”

“Payday, however, because the game is replayable like few other games…it allowed us to continue pushing out content for the game, which allowed us to keep monetizing the players who were interested in the game.”

Starbreeze is not completely out of the single-player game business however, though such titles may perhaps be sidelined to its publishing partners.

“We’re great at doing co-op games and multiplayer games. That’s why The Walking Dead game we’re making is a co-op game, that’s why the Crossfire game we’re making is a co-op game.”

It may not be unreasonable to consider that other developers perhaps share similar feelings with Starbreeze Studios, which could foresee a continual increase in the amount of online multiplayer, as we’ve witnessed with such titles as Star Wars Battlefront and the Uncharted series. For trophy hunters, this could mean more online Trophies to unlock.
