The next DLC expansion for Yacht Club Games‘ 2D side-scrolling platformer, Shovel Knight, will finally be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita, in Europe this week. The expansion, titled Specter of Torment, was already released in North America on April 25.

Specter of Torment is a free update for players already possessing the game, or can be purchased as a standalone game. The expansion is a prequel to the Shovel Knight campaign:

 

“Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment is the action-packed prequel to Shovel Knight!” stated Yacht Club Games on their website. “With this scythe and preternatural agility at the ready, he can glide across the ground, clamber up walls, and command an arsenal of curious weapons.”

 

“If he carries out his duties to the Enchantress, Specter Knight may have a chance at regaining his lost humanity and breaking his chains of servitude. But what cruel tricks might the Enchatress have up her sleeve?”

 

Specter of Torment is the second of three post-releas DLC expansions, the first being Plague of Shadows. Specter of Torment adds the following two Trophies to the list:

 

* Victory! (bronze) – Finish the game as Specter Knight

* Reaper of Renown (silver) – Achieve all Specter Knights Feats.

 

The original Shovel Knight has 38 Trophies, including the Platinum. The new new DLC expansions now brings the total Trophy count to 42.
