Alienation

Alienation is a top-down shoot 'em up, similar in style to the 2010 Dead Nation by the same developers. Players select from three different characters, each with their own unique abilities, firing against swarms of aliens while upgrading weapons through collectibles. The game can be played ether solo or online co-op with up to four players.

Aliens have invaded Earth, and most of humanity has either died or been mutated. Soldiers from a military group known as UNX are the planet's only hope to stop humanity from becoming extinct.

Alienation received positive reviews with an average score of 79%, praised for its twin-stick shooting mechanics, online co-op play, and overall excitement and fun, though criticized for its lack in variety of weapons and for not possessing local co-op play.

Three full playthroughs are required, one of which on Hardcore mode. While Hardcore mode is obviously the most tricky aspect of the game, the remaining trophies are more time-consuming than difficult, as you'll need to do plenty of grinding.

Expect roughly 55-65 hours for the Platinum.

You'll need to do three full playthroughs, one with each of the three characters, with your last playthrough on Hardcore mode. We recommend saving the Bio-Specialist for the Hardcore run, as he has the ability to heal himself. But the choice is yours.

During your first playthrough, select whichever character you want. You'll be unlocking all the story-related trophies. We also recommend going for any other miscellaneous ones that don't involve a lot of grinding. Check out the Alienation trophy guide links under our Links tab for more details.

For your second playthrough, choose a different character, and aim for whatever miscellaneous trophies you're still missing.

Now, it's time for the Hardcore playthrough with your remaining character, which will unlock the I Fear Everything trophy, as well as whichever character-related trophy you're missing. On this mode, if you die, you lose your save file and will need to start all over at Level 1. If you prefer to play this co-op, check out the Boosting Forums under our Links tab.

With that out of the way, the rest is all grinding. Again, check out the Alienation trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what other miscellaneous trophies you may still be needing, and their requirements.

PlayStation Plus Free Games: May 2017

It’s that exciting time of the month again, where Sony reveals their next line-up of PlayStation Plus Free Games for the next month, available for download on Tuesday, May 2, 2017.

Those with a North American account, players can enjoy Absu on the PlayStation 4, a title from last year by Giant Squid Studios; an underwater exploration game filled with plant and animal life, as well as the search for ancient ruins and technology. For European account holders, there’s Alienation, a shooter with RPG elements where players select one of three character classes and defend Earth against an alien invasion. And for everyone on the PlayStation 4, there’s Tales From The Borderlands, the point-and-click adventure by Telltale Games based on the Borderlands series.

For the PlayStation 3, there’s Blood Knights, a hack-and-slash with RPG elements where a vampire and a vampire hunter work together in co-op to find a powerful artifact that could cause a cataclysm. And Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants, a simulation game involving setting up an economy while facing off enemies in battles set in the Caribbean during the 16th Century.

And on the PlayStation Vita, there’s Laser Disco Defenders, the indie game from Out of Bounds Games Ltd., a shooter that combines retro sci-fi with the disco era. And Type: Rider, an adventure puzzle game involving the transformation of typographic images while traveling through the ages. Both Laser Disco Defenders and Type: Rider are cross-plat with the PS4.

Among the PlayStation Plus Free Games for May 2017, Alienation for Europe, Tales From The Borderlands, and Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants, all have platinum trophies to unlock. Among them, Tales From The Borderlands is by far the easiest and requiring only 12 hours of gameplay. Meanwhile, both Alienation and Port Royale 3: Pirates and Merchants aren’t particularly difficult platinums, though each will require roughly 60 hours of gameplay. Also, both Abzu for North America, and Blood Knights are fairly easy games to unlock 100% of the trophies, each requiring 4 or 5 hours of gameplay.
