Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 is a compilation of the classic Mega Man X5 and Mega Man X6 originally released on the PlayStation One, and Mega Man X7 and MegaMan X8 from the PlayStation 2. The game also includes the X-Challenge, a new mode where players battle against the bosses from each Mega Man X title up to X6.

The Mega Man X series, known as Rockman X in Japan, are a series of action side-scrolling platformers. In each game, players are free to select the order of completing each of the levels, which provide unique environments and enemies that reflect the boss’ character. New weapons are obtained by clearing levels.

Each of the original Mega Man X titles, with the exception of Mega Man X7, received high praise for their fast-paced action, challenge, and overall fun. Mega Man X7 received mixed reviews for its poorly executed mixture of 2D and 3D gameplay.

This is a high 2-star rating, as the Platinum is arguably more difficult and more time consuming than the previous installment. Though again, like the first Mega Man X Legacy Collection, the difficulty entirely depends on the player’s skills and experience with the Mega Man series. Most of the trophies each individual game can be obtained in one playthrough so long as you’re careful of some missable trophies. A few, however, may require some backtracking and strategic saves. Overall however, despite the extra time and challenge, any player who managed to get the Platinum in the previous Legacy Collection should still be able to unlock it here, as well.

Expect around 28-35 hours for the Platinum, depending on skills.

You can start things off by selecting Normal mode and playing through Mega Man X5. It’s a good idea to make a save after collecting all the Enigma components, before firing the Enigma. From there, try to fire the Enigma and detonate the colony for the Out Of The Frying Pan trophy. If you fail, you can still get the bad ending, then reload to try again for the good ending.

Once you’ve finished your playthrough, select Rookie Hunter mode by pressing the Touch Pad before starting your next game. Here, you’ll need to complete any remaining endings for the Time Paradox trophy, as well as any others you still need for X5. Be sure to check out the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you still need and their requirements.

Next, start and complete a playthrough on Mega Man X6 on Normal. Here, you should be able to unlock all the trophies in one playthrough. Unlock the Ultimate Armor which you can use to complete the game challenges. Again, check out the trophy guides for more specific details so you won’t miss anything.

Next, it’s time for a playthrough on Mega Man X7 on Normal. Again, these trophies can be unlocked in one playthrough as long as you’re able to rescue the reploids. You’ll need 64 reploids rescued in order to gain X, whom you’ll need for some of the trophies.

Now it’s time for your playthrough on Mega Man X8 on Normal. Here, you can use passwords to unlock all options from the main menu, rather than using a New Game+. Check out the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 trophy guide links under our Links tab for the list of passwords, as well as to get familiar with the trophies and their requirements.

Finally, it’s time to head into the X-Challenges. These few trophies can be unlocked on Easy mode. You’ll need to complete any X-Challenge stage with at least 3:00 left on the timer for both the the Speed Of Light and Can’t Hit Me trophies, and complete all the X-Challenges for the Try Three On One Next Time trophy.

Finally, just mop-up anything you might be missing at this point. Most likely this includes viewing the gallery and listening to the music. If you need to go back into any of the Mega Man X games because you missed something, remember you can press the Touch Pad button and select Rookie Hunter mode to make things easier.
