Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten is a tactical J-RPG, the fourth game in the Disgaea series, and the second released on the PlayStation 3. Taking place in a Netherworld, allies are given specific skills which can be deployed in a turn-based combat system.

Valvatorez is a vampire who, alongside his servant Fenrich, was once feared as a tyrant but is now forced to perform menial work in Hades, where the souls of the dead are sent to be transformed into Prinnies. When the government decides on a mass extermination of all Prinnies, Valvatorez and his servant decide to fight across the Netherworld to win the support of the masses in order to prepare for a rebellion against the government.

Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten received positive reviews, with an average score of 81%, considered the best Disgaea in the series since the original on the PS2, though geared only towards the hard-core J-RPG fans.

If you've played the previous Disgaea game on the PS3, then you'll understand this is no quick platinum you can nab over the weekend. Aside from requiring at least two playthroughs, there is much grindwork to do, leveling up characters to their maximum, collecting all the items, and constant reloads of previous saves. Not to mention all the reading and research in guides and walkthroughs you'll need to do.

Overall, while the game doesn't require any serious skills, getting the Platinum will take you anywhere between 150 to over 200 hours of gameplay.

First, before switching on the game, you must decide if you plan to download the requested patch for the game. There's a "duping glitch" which can save you 50+ hours of gameplay. However, downloading the patch will eliminate the possibility of performing this glitch. Not downloading the patch means being unable to get online while playing, or gaining access to DLC, and be constantly reminded to download the patch every time you start up the game. The choice is yours.

Also, there's an option to switch off the animated sequences, which will save you a few seconds of time during combat. However, the Special Stalker trophy requires that you watch all of the special skills. So, we recommend leaving it on until you've at least collected this trophy.

When the game begins, make sure you don't hit any buttons. Watch the opening scene, and you'll unlock the This Is Disgaea 4 trophy.

Afterwards, it's simply a matter of playing through the story. There are 10 trophies which need to be collected during a single playthrough: Items Roadshow, Special Stalker, Scavenger Hunt Champion Of The Netherworld, The End Of The Beginning, Fight The God Fight, Of Promises Past, Fenrich's Mission, The Melancholy Of Fuka Kazamatsuri, Desco's New Purpose, and Vote For Emizel. Check out the Disgaea 4 A Promise Unforgotten trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details. These trophies, however, can be collected on your second playthrough in New Game+, so it's not vital that you obtain them in your first playthrough.

Also, before fighting the final boss, make sure to make a save file, which you can use later to collect all the epilogues. After beating the game, reload the file you made before defeating the boss, and collect all the epilogues. For more information, check out the Of Promises Past trophy for details in the trophy guides under our Links tab.

Next, you'll want to beat the story again on a second cycle. Here, you'll want to focus on collecting any of the story playthrough related trophies you were unable to get during your first round, such as Scavenger Hunt Champion Of The Netherealm. Before map 10-6, make a save file. After you've gotten the Fight The God Fight trophy, reload your save and finish the game with the normal ending.

Last, comes all the post-game grinding, where you will be going for all the remaining trophies. This is where many hours of hard work comes in, such as farming to reach the maximum level of 9999, and many others. Check out the Disgaea 4 A Promise Unforgotten trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details for each trophy that you're missing.

Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice Trophy Guide

Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  A J-RPG and the third in the Disgaea series involving students at the Evil Academy. The Platinum can be quite time consuming, as well as require a lot of luck.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice is a tactical J-RPG, the third in the Disgaea series which began on the PS2, and is the first title to be released for the PlayStation 3. Players control a group of characters of various classes, moving across a map which features "geo blocks" that have statistical effects in combat.

The story takes place at the Evil Academy, a demon school in the Netherworld where good students are those who participate in evil activities. Mao is cutting school in order to pursue his dream of overthrowing his father, the netherworld's Overlord, and claiming the title for himself. Meanwhile, his fellow pupils at the Academy attempt to stop his plans one way or another.

Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice received relatively positive reviews with an average score of 74%, criticized for its 'old style' on a seventh generation console and possessing a difficult learning curve, but praised for its story depth and interesting characters.

This can be a high or low 3-star rating, depending on your luck. Like most J-RPGs, there's nothing particularly difficult about this platinum, but requires a lot of time. Getting your characters to level 9999 will, as you can imagine, require a lot of grinding. Also, there are a number of Pirates you need to defeat, which appear randomly - which means crossing your fingers as you continuously reload your save.

Overall, this Platinum will require anywhere between 100 to 200 hours of gameplay.

Basically, you'll want to simply play through the main story. It's recommended to aim for the ABC's Of Hitting trophy sometime before Chapter 4, and the Cinco De Panelo trophy in Chapter 3, just to make mopping-up a little easier later on. Otherwise, simply play to the end.

Ironically, your hunt for the Platinum has now only just begun. Next, you'll need to max out your characters to level 9999, particularly Mao. This is where all the hours of grinding will come in, so just have patience and keep at it. We've included a mini guide in the Links page that will give you some leveling-up tips.

Next, you'll need to collect 34 tickets. Some of these can be bought at random vendors, but most of which you'll need to acquire by defeating pirates in the item world. Along the way, you should hopefully get some of the defeat pirates related trophies. After collecting 34 illegal tickets, complete the 35 X-dimension levels and collect the Chicken Hat.

Next, you'll need to head to the Land of Carnage item world and collect items as you reach the top ten floors, and collect monsters. On the floors 91-100, you'll be hunting for pirates to get all their corresponding trophies. This is where more grinding and a lot of luck comes in, as the types of pirates which appear are random. Make sure you create a save on floor 90, so that you can quit and reload each time you run through and obtain the pirate trophies. As it's based on luck, this can take anywhere between 15 to 80 hours of gameplay.

Last, there's mopping-up to do. Check out the Disgaea 3 Absence of Justice trophy guide links under our Links tab for tips on anything you're missing. For the 10 Billion Damage Man trophy, it's a lot easier to obtain if you purchase and download the Hero Prinny DLC, which is currently listed at $1.99 and will save you hours of trouble. If not, then you'll need to complete the epilogue to get Flonne for this trophy.

Dirt 3 Trophy Guide

DiRT 3 Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  A rally racing game, third in the DiRT series and the second to possess trophy support on the PS3. The offline trophies are of average difficulty, though the online ones can be tough without boosting.

DiRT 3

Dirt 3 is a rally racing game, the third in the Dirt series, and the second to have trophy support on the PlayStation 3. Players race through events, earning reputation points in order to unlock new vehicles. Aside from basic racing, the gymkhana mode provides obstacle courses and the chance to earn points by performing tricks, as well as an online multiplayer mode.

Dirt 3 received high praise, with an average score of 88%, for its car design, handling, overall gameplay, and online functionality.

The offline trophies aren't too bad, but getting all the 12 online trophies can be a long, tedious pain if you aren't boosting. With a boosting partner, however, this rating could slip down to either a low 3-star or high 2-star, depending on your racing skills.

With boosting, this Platinum could take around 30 hours or so. Without, it may take you far longer as you slowly grind your way to level 35 in multiplayer.

You'll first want to start with the DiRT Tour, working your way through the seasons and winning every event. There are a number of trophies you'll naturally unlock as you progress through the tour, with a few exceptions that you'll need to target, such as Assistance Is Futile, The Real Thing, Crash Proof, and Call Me Ace.

Once that's out of the way, you can start on the DC Challenges. There are 26 in total, and you'll need a platinum medal in each of them. Again, there are a number of other trophies which you'll naturally unlock in your attempt to get the platinum medals.

Finally, just mop-up the last few remaining offline trophies, which can be done in single player mode, as well as work towards getting 100% on the Battersea Compound Missions, for the Battered Battersea trophy.

Last are the final 12 online trophies. If you're not boosting, then check out the DiRT 3 trophy guide links under our Links tab and start working towards each trophy at a time, as you slowly make your way towards the ultimate goal: reaching level 35. As we mentioned earlier, having a boosting partner can really save you time, so either start making friends online or check out the boosting forums under our Links tab.

Call of Duty World at War Trophy Guide

Call of Duty World at War Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ****  A first-person action shooter taking place during WWII, and the fifth in the fifth in the Call of Duty series. Arguably the most difficult in the series thus far, particularly completing a playthrough on its hardest mode.

Call of Duty: World at War

Considered the fifth in the Call of Duty series, World At War is a first-person action shooter taking place during World War II. The player is Private C. Miller of the United States Marine Corp who, after his rescue from a Japanese POW, is taken to various locations during the ending days of the second world war.

The game's characters are voiced by several celebrity actors such as Gary Oldman and Kiefer Sutherland. World At War was well received by critics, gaining an average rating of 87%, particularly praised for its multiplayer mode.

While Modern Warfare 3 is considered one of the easier games in the Call of Duty series, World At War is perhaps the most difficult. There are only 3 online trophies, which can be obtained quickly with a boosting partner. Yet the offline trophies will give you quite a bit of trouble, mainly completing the game on its hardest difficulty mode, as you will be bombarded with grenades and other attacks, dying relentlessly towards that Platinum.

A challenging game to complete, even for first-person shooter experts.

If you're in a hurry for that Platinum, you can collect all the offline trophies in one playthrough. This means selecting Veteran mode, and making sure you find all the mission-specific trophies along the way. See the Call of Duty World at War trophy guide links under our Links tab for help with those.

However, if you feel that collecting those trophies while playing Veteran mode is a bit frustrating (and many of you will!) then we recommend selecting the regular mode first. The story itself is not very long, and can easily be completed in a day. It's up to you on how confident you are in your first-person shooter skills. The only online trophy which may give you some trouble is Blue Ribbon, which requires you to come in first place in a 4-player competitive co-op match. If you're used to playing first-person shooters, then this shouldn't be too much of a problem after some trial and error. Otherwise, check out the boosting forums we've posted under our Links tab to find a boosting buddy.

Demon’s Souls Trophy Guide

Demon’s Souls Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ****  A third-person action with RPG elements set in a dark fantasy world. The Platinum is both time consuming as well as incredibly challenging.

Demon’s Souls

First released in Japan in early 2009, then eight months later in North America, and 2010 in Europe, Demon's Souls is a third-person action RPG and a spin-off of the King's Field series by the same developer.

You play as a customed character who journeys to a dark fantasy world in which demons are spewing out of a fog, devouring mortal souls. You must set out where many have failed - to free the ravaged kingdom of Boletarian and defeat the Old One, a powerful demon which resides below the Nexus.

Killing these demons allows you to claim the devoured souls, which you use as currency to upgrade your weapons and boost your statistics. While the game is single-player, an online feature allows the player to see the "ghosts" of others and learn of secret passages, or send one another messages of warning.

The game was a smash hit in Japan, and well received in the West, with an average score of 90%, particularly for its imaginative online integration.

Most RPGs aren't easy Platinums, and Demon's Souls is no exception. It is about as time consuming as Final Fantasy XIII, but far more frustrating, and will require more than one playthrough.

If you plan on obtaining the Platinum, set aside more than 150 hours of your life. And if you do get the Platinum, congratulations! You are an RPG master.

Due to the way the stages are set up and collecting items, it is impossible to obtain the Platinum in one playthrough. It is possible to get it on your second, if you follow a specific roadmap. Rather than write it out here, we've posted a link to a great Wiki roadmap which claims to take only 10-30 hours to get 100% of the trophies.

Because of the difficulty of the game, the average gamer will probably require more than 30 hours to complete. But the Wiki roadmap is by far the quickest way to the Platinum. We've posted a link to the site under our Links tab, among many others which should help you out.

Good luck!

Demon's Soul Wiki has, by far, the best roadmap for getting the Platinum for this challenging game. If you follow it correctly, it's possible to get the Platinum during your second playthrough:
