There is no better way to survive the summer heat than to stay indoors and play some games while the air-conditioner racks up the electric bill. And just in time, Sony has just announced their next PlayStation Plus free games July 2025 line-up, available for download on Tuesday, July 1.

First, for both the PS4 and PS5, there’s Diablo IV, the online-only action RPG by Blizzard Entertainment. Select from one of six playable classes, and crawl your way through a procedurally generated dungeon either alone or with your friends. New mechanics in this installment of the Diablo series includes an open world, as well as player-versus-player combat.

Next, also for both the PS4 and PS5, there’s The King of Fighters XV, the 2022 fighting game developed by KOF Studio and published by SNK. The game includes a roaster of 39 playable characters, which includes returning characters from previous games in The King of Fighters series, as well as characters from other SNK games such as Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown.

Finally, for the PS5, there is Jusant, a puzzle platformer developed by Don’t Nod and released in 2023. This game is all about climbing, as players make their way to the top of a tower, passing through different biomes along the way.

All three games in the PlayStation Plus free games July 2025 line-up have platinum trophies to unlock.

Among them, obtaining the platinum for Jusant is by far the quickest and easiest. The game is not particularly challenging, and while there are about 100 collectibles to find, this can be easily done by following the guide. Expect around 6-8 hours of gameplay for this one, depending on whether or not you are using a guide.

The difficulty in getting the platinum for The King of Fighters entirely depends on your skills, as you would expect from any fighting game. Expect to replay and complete the story mode many times, as well as manage to win at least 30 online ranked matches. Without a boosting partner or fighting-game experience, expect this platinum to be a tough and long one.

Finally, unlocking the platinum for Diablo IV is no easy task. This can be certainly made easier if you have a good group to play with, but nearly impossible on your own. Expect over 200 hours of gameplay for this challenging, but highly respectable, platinum.

Overwatch: Origins Edition

Overwatch, also known as Overwatch: Origins Edition on the PS4, is a first-person team-based multiplayer. Players select from a roster of over 20 characters, each with a unique style of play and fit within one of three roles; damage heroes, tank heroes, and support (healing) heroes. Players on a team of six work together to complete the objective related to that game's mode, such as securing control points on a map, escorting payloads, team deathmatch, or a seasonal mode. Rewards are given at the end of matches which includes experience points as well as loot boxes containing a variety of items for customizing characters.

Overwatch received positive reviews with an average score of 91%, praised for its graphics, environment and characters, and overall fun, and received numerous awards from online magazines.

What makes the Platinum for Overwatch so challenging isn't just the skill involved, or even the time required, but the amount of luck needed as well. Some trophies, such as Rapid Discord for getting 4 kills/assists with Zenyatta's Orb of Discord within six seconds, or The Floor Is Lava for getting 3 kills while wall riding without dying, requires players to simply be at the right place at the right time.

If boosting, then the difficulty rating could be brought down to a high 3-star, though due to requiring a number of players, will take some scheduling and planning.

Even with skills and luck on your side, expect roughly 80-100 hours of gameplay.

Start by simply playing the game. Get a feel for the controls, the different characters, the maps, etc. You'll probably unlock a few trophies naturally during this stage, including the Level 10 trophy for reaching level ten.

Also, if you don't have any friends with the game, starting making some by sending out requests, as there are a few friend-related trophies.

Now that you're all comfortable, it's time to go after some trophies. Your ultimate goal will be to unlock the Level 50 trophy for reaching level fifty, and the Centenary trophy for winning 100 games in either Quick or Competitive play. In addition, you'll want to work towards earning 50 postgame medals for the Decorated trophy, earn 21 postgame cards for the Blackjack trophy, and win games on 12 different maps for the World Traveler trophy.

On your way to unlocking those, you'll want to start focusing on the hero-specific trophies. If you want to start easy, begin with the offensive heroes, such as Reaper, or Soldier-76. Continue this with the more challenging heroes, such as Zarya or Genji.

After that, there are a few miscellaneous trophies to mop-up as well. Again, check out the Overwatch trophy guide links to see what you're missing and their requirements.

If you plan to boost the more challenging trophies, visit the boosting forums under our Links tab. Some, such as The Floor Is Lava and Clearing The Area can be boosted with just one other player. Trophies like Hog Wild and Power Overwhelming will require two extra players.Remember that when boosting, it's possible to be kicked from the game if a player-character is inactive, or if at least one objective in that game's mode is not being met.
