Day of the Tentacle Remastered

Day of the Tentacle Remastered is a point-and-click adventure first released on the PC in 1993 as a sequel to Maniac Mansion, then remastered and ported onto the PlayStation 4 in 2016. The player-character is directed by using a set of nine different commands which involve picking up or using items, talking to other characters, or moving about, in order to solve puzzles and move the game forward.

Taking place five years following the events of Maniac Mansion, a mutant creature created by Dr. Fred Edison named Purple Tentacle drinks a toxic sludge that allows it to grow both in size and intelligence. Using time travel, Bernard Bernoulli and his friends Hoagie and Laverne must stop this event from happening before Purple Tentacle takes over the world.

The original Day of the Tentacle received critical acclaim, praised for its humor, cartoony animation, and for being a vast improvement over its prequel.

Being a point-and-click adventure game, Day of the Tentacle Remastered doesn't require much skill. As long as you're careful and collect all the missable trophies, the platinum can be earned in one playthrough.

If you're following a Day of the Tentacle Remastered trophy guide and walkthrough from our Links page, than the platinum can be earned in roughly 5 hours.

If you're going for the platinum in one playthrough, then there are some missable trophies you should be aware of. The first is the Mental Patience trophy, which requires you to play the whole game without skipping any cutscenes. So, be sure to avoid holding the Circle button. However, it is still safe to press the X button to move through the text quicker. Also, make sure to sit through the end credits to unlock the Take On The Words trophy.

Also, if you are following a walkthrough and therefore playing the game perfectly, you may end up needing to grind for the Master Plumber trophy, which involves flushing a total of 50 items through the Chron-o-Johns to share inventory items with the other player-characters.

Finally, there are a few trophies which require you to "Give" items to another character, such as handing the help wanted sign with Red's billboard to Edison for the Moronic Drone trophy. Select the "Use" option in these cases, as the "Give" selection will not unlock the trophy.

Otherwise, the remaining trophies that are not story related will require to be unlocked at various points in the game. Check out the Day of the Tentacle Remaster trophy guide links in our Links page to get familiar with the trophies' requirements, and by following one of the walkthroughs, you should be fine.

We also recommend making several save slots which you can reload should you miss anything.
