Styx: Shards of Darkness
Styx: Shards of Darkness is a stealth game and sequel to the 2014 Styx: Master of Shadows. Players keep a low profile by hiding in the shadows in order to survive and progress to the next level. The titular character Styx possesses a number of abilities such as turning invisible, setting traps for enemies, and cloning himself. Experience gained allows to unlock new skills and special moves. The game also includes a multiplayer co-op mode, where the second player controls one of Styx’s clones.
Following the events of Master of Shadows, Styx is offered the job of sneaking into Korrangar, the city of the Dark Elves. Despite the city rumored to be impregnable, Styx is able to slip inside and embark on a new objective – stealing a scepter which possesses incredible power.
Styx: Shards of Darkness received relatively positive reviews with an average score of 72%, praised for its level design, stealth tactics, and overall improvement over its predecessor, but criticized for its AI, combat system, and weak objective missions.
The Platinum for Shards of Darkness is arguably easier than its predecessor, Master of Shadows, due to the addition of the quick-save feature, which makes both farming as well as trial-and-error easier. Having said that, the overall challenge is about the same. The game can be played on Easy mode, and realistically require at least two playthroughs, with some additional farming afterwards. And a mission select means there are no missable trophies.
If using the collectibles guides and walkthroughs under our Links tab, expect around 20-25 hours for the Platinum.
Your first main goal will be to get gold level for all four Insignias for each of the missions. This includes not setting off alerts, collect all the tokens, not performing any kills, and beating the time limit. It’s technically possible to get all four of these in one playthrough, but unless you have some mad skills, we do not recommend it.
If you wish to make things easier on yourself, feel free to play on Easy mode and first just focus on getting the Shadows, Thief, and Mercy gold Insignias. Along the way, you will be unlocking the mission-related trophies naturally. There are a few others you could work towards as well to avoid a lot of post-game farming, so you may which to check out the Styx Shards of Darkness trophy guide links under our Links tab.
Once that’s done, reply each of the missions, this time doing a speed-run for the Swiftness gold Insignia. Once you get all four gold Insignias, you’ll not only unlock each of their corresponding trophies, but the All Along The Gobtower trophy as well.
Once that’s done, it’s time to use the mission select and mop up all the remaining miscellaneous trophies may still be missing. Any farming still required can easily be done by using a quick-save, do what you need to do, and reload to rinse and repeat. Be sure to check out the Styx Shards of Darkness trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you still need and their requirements.
