Halloween is soon upon us! And to celebrate the upcoming spooky season, Sony has announced their next batch of freebies for PS Plus members, which do not actually have anything to do with Halloween. But hey, free games are free games, which means more trophies to unlock. And so, here is the PlayStation Plus free games October 2026 line-up, available for download on Tuesday, October 6.

First, for the PS5, there’s Hunt: Showdown 1896, the updated version of the original Hunt: Showdown first released in 2019. In this first-person online multiplayer shooter, players take on the role of a bounty hunter, and survive long enough against other bounty hunters while killing off mythical monsters. The game features three different gameplay modes, including the previous Bounty-Hunt and Soul Survivor modes, as well as the latest Bounty Clash where the map is reduced to a single location where bounty hunters clash over the extraction.

Next, for the PS5, there’s F1 25, the 18^th entry in the F1 series, developed by Codemasters and published by EA Sports. Similar to previous games in the series, players drive Formula One and Formula 2 cars, playing as either real drivers or created ones in career mode, take on time trials, play singular Grand Prix weekends, or head online for extra challenges.

Finally, for both the PS4 and PS5, there’s Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, the voxel graphics spin-off from the original Earth Defense Force series which got its start as a Simple 2000 game on the PS2. Players can build their own Earth Defense Force unit, and battle aliens in a 4-member team.

All three titles in the PlayStation Plus free games October 2026 line-up have platinum trophies to unlock.

Among them, F1 25 is arguable the easiest platinum. The overall difficulty of the game is quite average, especially for those with experience playing the F1 racing series. The few online trophies only require having to complete races. Expect around 35-40 hours of gameplay for the platinum, depending on your racing skills.

Next, unlocking the platinum for Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is also average in terms of difficulty. However, like other titles in the series, expect a lot of grinding. There are a few simple online trophies which can easily be unlocked without needing a boosting partner. However, expect well over 100 hours of gameplay for this platinum.

Last, getting the platinum for Hunt: Showdown 1896 is by no means an easy feat. The game is entirely online, which means you will be competing not just with the game itself, but other players. Some requirements include accumulating 100 enemy Hunter headshot kills, closing 250 rifts in Soul Survivor, and performing miscellaneous feats such as retiring 25 hunters. Expect close to 200 hours of gameplay, and perhaps even more depending on your FPS skills.

Earth Defense Force Insect Armageddon Trophy Guide. Difficulty: *** A third-person shooter in a battle against insect-like creatures invading the Earth. The Platinum is not too difficult, but requires a lot of time and grinding.

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon

Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon is a third-person shooter, in which players run through various locations to destroy large insect-like creatures that have come from space. The game is part of the "Chikyuu Boueigun" series (Earth Defense Force) which began as part of D3 Publisher's "Simple 2000" series on the PlayStation 2 in Japan.

The alien invasion has begun. Lightning Alpha, the leader of an elite squadron of fighters known as Strike Force Lightning, has been called into the fictional city of New Detroit to aid the local Earth Defense Force in wiping out these lethal creatures. Players can arm and upgrade their weapons from a variety of choices, while taking on aliens which range from ants and spiders to robotic enemies. The game features two-player split-screen, as well as a three-player online co-op and six-player Survival mode.

Insect Armageddon received moderately positive reviews, with an average score of 68%, praised for its overall fun, though criticized for a lack of variety in gameplay.

This Platinum isn't too difficult in terms of skills required, but needs a LOT of grinding! Aside from three playthroughs and playing 500 waves of Survival mode, you will need to replay missions over and over in order to fully upgrade your weapons and armor, as well as receive all the kill-related trophies.

Overall, expect to put in around 150-200 hours into this puppy.

There are three different modes, each with three chapters that contain five missions. Trophies for completing the difficulty modes do not stack, so there is absolutely no reason to start on Inferno. Instead, load up Normal and play through to the end, while upgrading your weapons and armor along the way. Once finished, you'll need to repeat this on Hard and Inferno mode, while you continue raising your kill count and upgrading weapons and armor.

By the time you finish Inferno mode, don't expect to have all your weapons and armor now upgraded. Far from it. This is where the grinding comes in, as you need to replay through the story missions (it's up to you which missions to play) in order to get all four armor classes to level 8, and any weapon upgrades you still need.

Last, there is Survival Mode. You'll need to reach Wave 5 for the Good Start trophy, then play through a total of 500 waves, as well as accumulate a total of 10,000 kills. It's up to you if you wish to play Wave 1 five hundred times, or play a variety.

Congratulations! You've saved New Detroit and earned yourself a well-deserved Platinum!
