Grand Theft Auto III

Grand Theft Auto III is a third-person action adventure, and the fifth title in the Grand Theft Auto series. It was first released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001, and ported onto the PlayStation 4 in HD with trophy support in 2015. The game is set in the open-world, fictional Liberty City which is based on New York. Players may roam freely either on foot or by vehicle, and use a variety of weapons to take down enemies.

Following a bank robbery, Claude is shot and left for the police by his accomplices. After escaping from his prison sentence, he finds himself involved with the mafia who are at war with a rival gang.

The original Grand Theft Auto III received critical acclaim with an average score of 97%, praised for its open-world design, gameplay, impressive graphics, detail, and overall fun experience.

While there’s plenty to do in order to obtain the Platinum, the game is nowhere near as time consuming as the more recent GTA IV or GTA V. There are no online trophies to worry about, and enabling cheats allows for an even quicker, easier playthrough.

Expect around 25-30 hours for the Platinum if using cheats.

It should first be noted that the Is This All You’ve Got? trophy is missable, as there are two sets of missions which can become unavailable if you progress too far with other character missions. In Portland, be sure to complete all of Joey and Luigi’s missions BEFORE completing Salvatore’s missions. Also, on Staunton Island, be sure to finish all of Asuka and Kenji’s missions BEFORE completing Donald Love’s missions. Doing this will avoid locking you out of any missions, and therefore the Platinum.

It should also be noted that using the cheats will make your playthrough much quicker and easier, without disabling the trophies. However, be aware of the Money Cheat, as using it lowers your Criminal Rating. Doing this too often will lock you out of achieving a Criminal Rating score of 5,000, which is needed for the Like A Boss trophy. Since you will be making a ton of money during your playthrough anyway, we recommend using the Money Cheat altogether.

Finally, it’s a good idea to complete the Paramedic Side Missions in Portland first, before moving onto the story missions. This will make things easier, as you won’t be attacked by rival gangs while trying to complete the Paramedic missions.

With all that in mind, and after completing the Paramedic Side Missions, go ahead and complete the story. Doing this will not only unlock a number of story-related trophies, but give access to all areas in the game. Most likely, you will also unlock a few other trophies naturally along the way, as well.

With that done, it’s time to get 100% completion to unlock the Is That All You’ve Got? trophy. Aside from completing all 12 Paramedic and all 48 story missions, this will also involve completing all 16 Pay-Phone missions, all four off-road vehicle and all four remote control vehicle missions, extinguish 60 fires, kill 60 criminals, complete 100 taxi fares, 20 rampages, 20 unique jumps, 100 hidden packages, and each vehicle import/export list on each island. Needless to say, this is where the bulk of your time will be spent.

Once you’ve gotten 100 completion and unlocked the Is That All You’ve Got? trophy, you’re nearly there. Lastly, mop-up any outstanding trophies you need for that Platinum.
