Defiance

Defiance is a sci-fi third-person action-shooter MMO. Players can customize their characters by adding and upgrading abilities as their level improves, and customize weapons by adding modifications. In addition to the main and side missions scattered around the map, players can experience both co-op adventures or fight each other in competitive mode. The game and aspects of its story also tie-in with Syfy's Defiance TV program.

In the future, Earth has been terraformed by alien races, and ravaged by war. Now, the aliens and humans attempt to live together and rebuild civilization. Taking place in the San Francisco Bay Area, players fight against creatures that burrow up from the ground, crazed mutants, raiders, cyborgs, and a number of other enemies plaguing the land.

The game received mixed reviews, ranging between satisfactory to rather positive, with an average score of 64%. Defiance was praised for its overall fun experience, but criticized for the bugs and problems with its servers.

For more information, check out our Defiance Review.

This is definitely a time-consumer. There are a few multiplayer trophies, such as for getting 50 headshots, which can be tricky and require some patience. But the EGOcentric Hunter trophy needs an EGO rating of 2,500, and that will take many hours of gameplay.

Overall, not too challenging - but definitely requires about 200 hours of your time.

NOTE: When Defiance became Free To Play in June 2014, the DLC trophy list was not added to the player's profile. As a result, all DLC trophies are Not Obtainable for anyone who purchased and installed the DLC after June 2014.

Since this is an open-world MMO, there is no required roadmap and no missable trophies.

Unlike other similar games, Defiance doesn't use "classes," and so your initial character design is merely how you wish to begin things in the game. As you increase in level, you'll be unlocking more EGO boosts, and so continually modifying your character depending on how you wish to play the game.

Completing Goals, and taking part in Arkfalls, are a great way to boost your EGO. In fact, during the massive Arkfalls, you needn't stick around. Simply shoot the monster several times, then leave and continue with other missions. Once other online players have destroyed whatever beast was there, you'll earn the XP.

Goals can basically be divided between challenges (either racing or shooting) or finding either locations or data recorders. You'll need to complete each goal in a single pursuit for that pursuit to be considered finished, and you'll need to complete 20 pursuits for the Pursuit Of Excellence trophy. If you follow the maps under our Links tab, you can easily complete 20 pursuits simply by finding the locations and data recorders. Some of those shooting challenges can be pretty tricky.

Regarding the multiplayer trophies, we recommend starting with focusing on the Chasing Shadows trophy first, which requires capturing 50 points in a Shadow War. During this, you'll be also getting head-shots and killing other players along the way. Once you've got your 50 points, you can head into the competitive arenas and aim for getting 10 wins in each, all while continuing to up your head-shot and kill count. For Vehicular Manslaughter, in which you need to kill 25 players by running them over, you can only perform this either during a Shadow War or on the Freightyard map.

Dead Island Trophy Guide

Dead Island Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  A first-person action survival horror with RPG elements where players explore an open-world infested with zombies. The Platinum is more time consuming than difficult, with online trophies that are easier to unlock through boosting.

Dead Island

Dead Island is an action survival horror game in first-person, with RPG elements. Players explore and survive on an open-world island, while attacking the infested zombies in melee combat, and upgrading their character using XP. The game also includes online co-op play.

A rapper, a hotel receptionist and Chinese government spy, a former football legend, and an ex police officer, are staying at a resort on the fictional island of Banoi when a virus breaks out, turning everyone into zombies. The four survivors appear immune to the disease, and must fight their way in search of supplies, as well as find a way off the island.

Dead Island received some mixed reviews, though mostly positive, with an average score of 78%, criticized for glitches and bugs, but praised for its overall fun factor.

This game requires more time than skill. You can earn the majority of the trophies in one long playthrough, provided that you perform a certain glitch to help boost your character to level 50 - otherwise you'll need to play the game two or three more times. Afterwards, there's a bit of mopping-up to do.

In addition, there are 6 online trophies, all related to playing a certain set of quests with a certain set of people. Having boosting partners can make these trophies easier, though is not entirely necessary.

Expect to spend between 50 to 60 hours on this game, more if you don't use the glitch to reach level 50.

NOTE: The trophies on the PS4 Definitive Edition have a separate list from those on the PS3.

Most of your time will be spent playing through the campaign. There are a number of kill-related trophies, as well as several miscellaneous ones such as exploring the entire island, customizing weapons, and finding collectibles. Also, if you wish to avoid multiple playthroughs, check out the School Of Hard Knocks trophy in the guides under our Links tab for how to perform a glitch that will get you to level 50.

Keep in mind that once you beat the campaign, there is no more free roaming. You can, however, continue with a chapter select, though you will lose all your weapons this way. We recommend collecting all the miscellaneous trophies before ending the campaign, just to make life easier.

Once that's completed, you will need to play Act 1 three more times, once with the other three characters.

Hopefully, all that's left are the 6 online trophies. Just start a new game, and search for other players. Check out the Dead Island trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details about these trophies, as well as a boosting forum for finding boosting partners, if need be.

Dark Souls Trophy Guide

Dark Souls Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ****  An action RPG and a loose sequel to 2009 Demon’s Souls. While not as difficult as its prequel, the game is still very challenging and demands a lot of grinding for the Platinum.

Dark Souls

Dark Souls is an action RPG set in an open world, and a loose sequel to Demon's Souls. Players can upgrade their characters through XP, as well as from a vast assortment of weapons and armor found throughout the areas. Dark Souls is intended to be played online, in which players can either co-op or duel one another, with rewards for the winner.

The story is deliberately minimalistic, though expanded throughout the game as the player pieces together collected lore. Taking place in the Kingdom of Lordran, the player-character is a human who possesses the Darksign - the curse of the undead, and must escape the Undead Asylum on a pilgrimage to ring the two Bells of Awakening.

Dark Souls received high praise, with an average score of 91% for its level design, online system, and having an overall fantastic sense of adventure.

While not considered as difficult and time-consuming as its prequel Demon's Souls, this game still warrants a 4-star rating mainly for its difficulty and skills involved on the higher modes, as well as the time required for grinding.

The game can go smoother if you have a co-op partner, and have done some research (check out the Links tab) but overall, expect to put in well over a hundred hours into this game.

This is not one of those games you can rush through to claim the Platinum - there's a reason why we gave it 4-stars for difficulty. You may want to read up on some of the introductory guides and strategies we've posted under the Links tab before you start.

On your first playthrough, what you'll want to do is try to get all the trophies you can since the enemies will get stronger later on. This includes acquiring all the covenants, sorceries, rings and pyromancy trophies, as well as those related to the boss battles. You'll need to study the trophy guides and walkthroughs in our Links page to find the best course of action for yourself. Also, you'll need to do some farming of enemies in order to obtain certain miracles and pyromancies, and again this is easier to do on your first playthrough.

Next, you'll need to start a New Game+, where the enemies are much stronger. This is where some serious skills come in. The good news is, you can skip ahead and only focus on finding the rare weapons that you need.

Finally, load up a New Game++ and look for the final rare weapon you need, which should be the Sif's Soul and perhaps the Titanie Slab if you missed it earlier. You'll also still need to reach Anor Londo so that you can use the soul and create the last weapon you need for your final trophy.

Overall, a very challenging and complex game which requires a fair bit of planning. but in the end, a Platinum you can be proud of.

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 Trophy Guide

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012 Trophy Guide. Difficulty: n/o  A first-person hunting shooter taking place across different environments between tundra to mountains. Since the servers have ceased connecting with Facebook, the game’s single online trophy – and therefore, the Platinum – is now Not Obtainable.

Cabela’s Big Game Hunter 2012

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 is a first-person "hunting" shooter - a cross between Call of Duty and Afrika. This time, we're heading to five new locations: Alaska, Montana, Texas, Namibia, and Mexico, from the wooden tundras to snowy plains, from mountains to valleys, to hunt a variety of trophy animals and birds.

An added feature to this 2012 version is the ability to make "choices" in your direction, as well as avoid detection by animals. A multiplayer function allows up to 4 players to either work together or compete in arcade shooting galleries.

Due to the unpopularity of this game, few online magazines have bothered to review it. Those that did, gave an average score of 64%, stating an improvement in the graphics - particularly on the animals - but a thin and simple storymode.

Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 includes a trophy titled Hungry For Fame, which is unlocked by uploading 20 photos to a Facebook account. Unfortunately, sometime around early 2014, the servers for connecting with Facebook were shut down. As a result, this trophy - as well as the Platinum trophy - has become Not Obtainable.

The Hungry For Fame trophy for uploading 20 photos to a Facebook account can no longer be unlocked, since the servers were closed in early 2014. This also means that the platinum for Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 has become Not Obtainable. However, the game still includes 29 offline trophies, so if you're interested, then read on.

As you make your way through story mode, you'll be unlocking trophies naturally along the way, while others will require specific effort. The majority of these can be collected on your first playthrough, so check out the Cabela's Big Game Hunter 2012 trophy guide links under our Links tab for specific details. Along the way, shoot every bird in sight to work towards grinding for the Pump It Up trophy, which requires 300 bird hunts with the shotgun, as well as killing all the small game animals for the Devarminator trophy.

After having completed your first playthrough, you will have unlocked the trophy gun. Now, you'll need to make your second playthrough using only the trophy gun and compound bow, in order to earn the Gun Master trophy and possibly the Gun Slinger and Bow Master trophies.

Once that's finished, there are 7 gallery-related trophies to work on. After this, simply mop-up anything you're missing - minus the Hungry For Fame trophy.

Dance Dance Revolution Trophy Guide

Dance Dance Revolution Trophy Guide. Difficulty: ***  A dance rhythm game that uses the PlayStation Move controller, and the first in the series to be ported onto the PlayStation 3. The game might be challenging to beginners of the series, though not to hard for experts.

Dance Dance Revolution

Dance Dance Revolution is the first DDR title to be ported onto the PlayStation 3. It combines both the controller mat and PlayStation Move, so players make use of both hands and feet in rhythm to the music and on-screen instructions.

The game includes 50 songs, which include both popular Western tracks as well as Konami's original titles. Download packs are also available on the PSN to expand your collection. The game also includes a new feature to the DDR series, such as Chain Arrow which grants a score bonus for maintaining a combo through sections of arrows, and Groove Trigger which allows players to cut their lifebar by 50% to increase their points.

Dance Dance Revolution received a wide range of reviews, from negative to positive, with an average score of 62%. Critics accused the scoring system as being "broken," and forcing experienced players to start on easy levels, while positive reviewers noted the sharp visuals and overall great presentation of the game.

Like any music rhythm game, from Rock Band to Hatsune Miku, Dance Dance Revolution's difficulty for the Platinum entirely depends on your skills. If you're a DDR master, then this game could be brought down to a 2-star. If this is your first time and you tend to lack rhythm, Dance Dance Revolution could be brought up to a 4-star. Some of the Club Mode trophies, such as getting a 1000 combo, can be very challenging and frustrating to the newbies.

NOTE: You will need a PlayStation Move controller for the Platinum.

This game doesn't require much of a roadmap, but there are a few easier trophies you can get out of the way in the beginning. Start on Training Mode and play through, which will earn you Welcome To DDR! and Playing The Real Thing.

Next, you can head into Dance Off and collect the two easier trophies here: Dance Party and White-Hot Dance Battle.

Afterwards, you'll be spending the majority of your time in Club Mode. There are a number of miscellaneous trophies here to be earned, some of which you'll acquire naturally as you progress through the songs. Check out the Dance Dance Revolution trophy guide links under our Links tab for further details.

Have fun!
