PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2020

With all the excitement and hustle over reserving a PS5, some of us may have forgotten there are free games to be had. And so, here is the next line-up of PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2020 available for download on Tuesday, October 6.

First, there’s Need For Speed: Payback, the twenty-third installment in the Need for Speed racing series, set in the fictional open-world of Fortune Valley. Three characters are betrayed after a job of stealing limited edition cars go sour, and they’re out for some payback.

And, there’s Vampyr, a third-person action RPG set in a semi-open world London which blends factual and fictional locations. After returning from the Great War in 1918, Doctor Jonathan Reid finds himself turned into a vampire. While searching for clues to this deadly virus, he must battle vampire hunters, and decide whether or not to give in to his blood-hungry tendencies.

Both Need for Speed: Payback and Vampyr have Platinum trophies to unlock.

The Platinum for Need for Speed: Payback is of average difficulty, though a little time consuming with around 40 hours of gameplay required. There are collectibles to find, and some grinding needed to reach a REP of level 50. The game includes 4 online trophies which are easy to unlock and do not require any boosting.

The Platinum for Vampyr is a little easier and far less time consuming, which about 25 hours required. Two playthroughs are needed to unlock each of the two major endings, and a few missable trophies to watch out for.

Need for Speed Payback

Need for Speed Payback is a racing game and the twenty-third installment in the Need for Speed series. The game is set in the fictional open-world of Fortune Valley, based on Las Vegas, featuring a day-night cycle, both single-player and online multiplayer, and a focus on action driving. The game includes a total of 74 vehicles.

Ty, Mac, and Jess are part of a small crew in Fortune Valley, who are offered a job to steal a limited edition car. However, after things go sour due to betrayal, the characters are out to get some payback.

Need for Speed Payback received mixed reviews with an average score of 62%, praised for its fill of content and overall improvements over its predecessor, but criticized for its controls and handling, linear storyline, and over abundance of micro-transactions.

While there are a few tricky challenges, the Platinum is overall more time consuming than difficult. There are plenty of collectibles to find, some grinding to reach REP level 50, and a few other miscellaneous objectives which any player with average racing skills can achieve. The game includes 4 online trophies which are mainly for participating in events and races or fulfilling objectives, rather than winning the races themselves. Overall, not the easiest Platinum in the Need for Speed series, but certainly doable.

Expect around 40-45 hours for the Platinum, depending on your racing skills.

There are no missable trophies to worry about, so start things off by playing through and completing the campaign, where you'll be unlocking all the story-related trophies. Along the way, if you wish, you can go after some of the collectibles, or miscellaneous trophies, to save a bit of time later. If so, then be sure to check out the Need for Speed Payback trophy guide links under our Links tab. Or, you can just play through and save those for later. It's up to you.

Once you've finished the Campaign, there are a number of collectible-related trophies to grab. This includes smashing 30 billboards for the Does Not Obey trophy, and 100 Gambler Chips to collect for the All In trophy.

You'll also want to complete, and get a 3 Star Rating, on all activities in the game, which include Speed Traps, Speed Runs, and Drift Zones. Your ultimate goal here is to unlock the Active Lifestyle trophy for completing everything, though you'll earn a few other trophies automatically during your progress.

Finally, it's time to mop-up all remaining trophies. Most likely, this will include the Top Dog trophy for reaching REP level 50. Again, check out the Need for Speed Payback trophy guide links under our Links tab to see what you still need, and their requirements.

At any point, you can hop into multiplayer to unlock those four online trophies. These include completing a daily challenge for A Daily A Day trophy, completing all five events in a single speedlist for the First Strike Is Deadly trophy, completing 10 events in ranked speedlists for The Climb trophy, and beating an autolog recommendation for the Friendly Competition trophy.
