PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2019

Following the electric excitement of the Tokyo Game Show, we’re ready to buckle down and start playing some games – particularly some free ones. Luckily, Sony has just released their line-up for the PlayStation Plus Free Games October 2019 which are available for download on Tuesday, October 1.

First, there’s The Last of Us Remastered, which includes both the original The Last of Us first released on the PS3, and its DLC add-on The Last of Us: Left Behind. This is a survival-horror with stealth elements taking place twenty years following a pandemic which turned the infected into strange, zombie-like creatures.

Next, there’s MLB The Show 19, the next installment in the baseball MLB The Show franchise where you can create your own player and rise through the MLB ranks, or recreate famous showdowns in baseball history. Also, PlayStation Plus members who log into the game in October will receive free in-game content, which include equipment for your created player, and some other cool trinkets.

Both The Last of Us Remastered and MLB The Show 19 have Platinum trophies to unlock.

Obtaining the Platinum on The Last of Us Remastered is more time consuming than difficult, though will still require some skills. A minimum of two playthroughs is needed, as well as time finding all those collectibles. The online trophies, without boosting, will also require just as much time.

The Platinum for MLB The Show 19 is quite difficult, even for those with experience with this baseball series. This is mainly due to the Welcome To The Chip trophy, which requires reaching the Championship Series Division in Ranked Seasons. In other words, being in the top 5% among other online players at least once in a given month.

PlayStation Plus Free Games September 2019

It’s typhoon season here in Japan, which gives more of an excuse to stay indoors and play some games – and even better when they’re free! So without further ado, here is the next line-up of PlayStation Plus Free Games September 2019 available for download on Tuesday, September 2.

First, there’s Batman: Arkham Knight, the 2015 action adventure by Rocksteady Studios based on the titular DC Comics superhero, and the fourth title in the Batman: Arkham series. Batman is on a mission to stop Scarecrow from releasing a deadly toxin on Gotham City. A mission that will force him to confront his own nightmares.

The other freebie is Darksiders III, the hack and slash action game by Gunfire Games released just last year, and the third title in the Darksiders series. Venture through a dark fantasy world as Fury, one of the Four Horsemen, who is on a quest to hunt down the Seven Deadly Sins.

Both Batman: Arkham Knight and Darksiders III have Platinum trophies to unlock.

The Platinum for Batman: Arkham Knight is fairly average in terms of difficulty, though a little time consuming as it requires two full playthroughs – one on Knightmare difficulty.

Darksiders III’s Platinum is far less time consuming though still average in terms of difficulty, and is possible to be unlocked in one playthrough, though two is recommended.

PlayStation Plus Free Games August 2019

Due to the arrangement of days this month, we only found out now the next line-up of PlayStation Plus Free Games August 2019 today, which will be available for download on Tuesday, August 6.

First, there’s the WipEout Omega Collection, which includes the remastered WipEout HD, as well as the WipEout HD Fury Expansion, and WipEout 2048. Race against your opponents down roller-coaster like tracks in your anti-gravity ship, or take them out with your arsenal of weapons. The game includes both single-player and online multiplayer.

And, there’s Sniper Elite 4, a third-person tactical shooter with stealth elements. Set in Italy towards the end of World War II, players take out enemies from great distances using their trusted sniper rifle to get those X-Ray kills. The game also includes both co-op and competitive multiplayer modes.

Both the WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4 each have a Platinum trophy to be unlocked.

If you’ve ever played any games in the WipEout series, then you should be familiar with how difficult getting the Platinum will be on the WipEout Omega Collection. This will require some incredible racing skills.

Sniper Elite 4 on the other hand, is more average in terms of difficulty, though will require some online play. Also, completionists should take note that the game has Downloadable Content that brings an extra 35 trophies to the list. The DLC is sold separately from the Sniper Elite 4 freebie.

PlayStation Plus Free Games July 2019

For some of us, with the heat and humidity building up outside, a friendly air conditioner is one reason to stay indoors. Sony has just given us two more reasons to stay in the house, with their announced line-up for the next PlayStation Plus Free Games July 2019, available for download on Tuesday, July 2.

First, there’s Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition, the adventure game released only last year, from the creators of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. The game is set in Detroit City in the year 2038, where Androids have become a part of everyday life – and seem to be taking on a life of their own. Players take control of three main characters and guide them through a story with multiple endings and outcomes.

Also, for those who don’t have it already, the Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition also includes Heavy Rain.

The other freebie is Horizon Chase Turbo, an arcade-style racing game, inspired by such classics as Out Run and Top Gear. Race down twisting tracks and use your nitro boosts to leave your opponents in the dust. The game also includes both local and online multiplayer.

Among the PlayStation Plus Free Games July 2019, all three games include a Platinum trophy to unlock.

Both Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain have fairly easy Platinum trophies with a guide, each requiring about 25 hours or so.

The Platinum for Horizon Chase Turbo is of average difficulty, depending on your racing skills, though will take a fair amount of time. Also, there are online trophies to consider.

UPDATE:
It should be noted that Sony had originally announced Pro Evolution Soccer 2019 to be one of the two PlayStation Plus Free Games July 2019. However, for reasons unknown, Sony decided to swap this game for Detroit: Become Human Digital Deluxe Edition at the last minute.

PlayStation Plus Free Games June 2019

With Summer fast approaching, we can either head outside and enjoy the warm weather, or stay indoors and play some games. For those who prefer the latter, Sony has unveiled their next line-up for PlayStation Plus Free Games June 2019 which will be available for download on Tuesday, June 4.

First, there’s Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, a 2-in-1 title that includes both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, as well as all the DLC for both games. These are first-person shooters with RPG elements that take place on another planet in a Mad Max like setting. Players face off against dangerous ruffians, intergalactic gangsters, and fierce alien creatures that inhabit the planet.

Next, there’s Sonic Mania, the next installment in the Sonic the Hedghog series first released in 2017. The game is a 2D side-scroller reminiscent of the original Sonic titles on the Sega Genesis, featuring all your favorite characters, and animated cutscenes.

Both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel contained in the Borderlands: The Handsom Collection have a Platinum trophy waiting to be unlocked. Sonic Mania has a total of 18 trophies but no Platinum.

The Platinum for both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel are fairly average in terms of difficulty, though will take a fair amount of time as there’s a lot to do. Expect around 50-60 hours for each Platinum.

Meanwhile, Sonic Mania is not a particularly difficult game to unlock 100% of the trophies, especially for those with some Sonic experience.
